Under general supervision of the Admin-IT Senior Manager, provides second and third-tier computer support services and computer scripting within the Division of Finance Operation and Administration (FOA). Applies IT professional concepts, departmental and campus policies, and procedures to resolve a variety of moderately complex issues in one or more IT areas of specialization. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situation or data requires a review of a variety of factors. The Senior Desktop Engineer will serve as an escalation point and technical liaison between the desktop team and the infrastructure team. They will be responsible for providing advanced technical support, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for complex desktop-related issues. This role requires expertise in scripting and automation, Office 365 and Exchange Online administration, Active Directory group policies, endpoint management tools, and various desktop technologies. The Senior Desktop Engineer will also analyze complex issues, manage systems and services, design and develop software, and coordinate workflow to ensure efficient resolution of complex problems. This position will assist in the development, maintenance, and administration of all aspects of FOA computer infrastructure, including database, scripts, and endpoint systems. Provide knowledge of Active Directory, endpoint security, systems integration, and systems virtualization. Assist in the recommendation, design, development, and implementation of hardware and software applications. Manage Windows and Apple endpoint systems domain accounts and file shares. Assist a large user population consisting of administrative staff with computing-related matters. Apply By Date 12/4/2024 at 11:59pm Minimum Qualifications For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position. • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). • Understanding of and experience troubleshooting client, server and peripherals-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. • Experience in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination and analysis. • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Desktop Engineer or a similar role. Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for complex desktop management tasks. Proficiency in Office 365 administration, including Exchange Online. Extensive experience with Active Directory group policies. • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent/related functions. • Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner. Preferred Qualifications • ITIL, ServiceNow, and IT Certifications. • BA in Computer Science or MIS or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Experience and knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), ServiceNow. • Experience in technical project management methodologies and best practices, including Agile development. • Experience implementing and developing training and/or instruction in one-to-one or group settings. • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively autonomously as well as effectively as part of a team. • Ability to independently establish priorities and coordinate and complete competing assignments within established timeframes. • Ability to exercise independent judgment in problem solving; separate issues that can be resolved at the staff level from those requiring higher level review. • Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrated ability to communicate highly technical information in a clear and concise manner to both technical and nontechnical personnel. The incumbent manages the Client Services and Desktop Engineering team, responsible for coordinating client engagement, endpoint security and delivering integrated solutions encompassing the full range of Admin IT, campus, and external vendor IT functions in a complex, federated, heterogeneous business environment. Ensures effective delivery of multi-tier IT services including incident response, systems and process analysis, technical project management, IT security, $300K in annual software licensing, $600K in annual hardware purchasing, management of 10,000 annual IT incidents, and delivery of additional IT services for 1600 staff and workstations, including life safety and emergency operations functions. Provides second and third-tier computer support services and computer scripting within the Division of Finance Operation and Administration (FOA).
