POSITION SUMMARY At Sunrise we are moving very quickly to modernize business operations of our Bank and subsidiaries. We are building new platforms, applications and are advancing existing systems. We are fully in on our cloud migration journey and there are many decisions we need to make on the application side as well as infra and platform components. We are maturing our technology practices by enhancing our application development capabilities. As a Solutions Architect you will collaborate directly with technology and business. You will evaluate existing technology landscape and day to day business operations, build inhouse solutions, integrate with market solutions and actively guide and own product development from dev teams and vendor partners. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Architectural Design: Lead design and documentation of technical architecture for software solutions, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and alignment with business objectives. Develop high-level and detailed architectural blueprints that guide project teams in consistent technology implementation. Conduct assessments of business requirements, translating them into comprehensive technical solutions and specifications. Application and Infrastructure Development and Support : Build end-to-end software solutions that enhance customer experience, leveraging cloud-based services and modern architecture best practices. Own the design and development of front-end and back-end. Utilize DevOps methodologies, leading development activities including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and CI/CD integration. Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, business stakeholders, and other technical teams to ensure architecture supports product lifecycle needs and long-term goals. Oversee production support and troubleshooting for applications, leading or assisting in root cause analysis and issue resolution as needed. Manage response to and resolution of support incidents within established SLAs, coordinating with stakeholders in development, infrastructure, and third-party systems as necessary. Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles to support effective incident management and problem resolution. Systems Integration and Technology Evaluation: Design and oversee system integration, ensuring seamless communication between new and existing systems, including cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. Evaluate emerging technologies and lead proofs of concepts to assess their value and potential for the organization, keeping solutions up-to-date with industry advancements. Governance, Compliance, and Security Ensure that architectural designs comply with internal standards and regulatory requirements, including security, privacy, and industry-specific mandates such as PCI. Collaborate closely with security teams and Security Architect to integrate security requirements into solution design. Performance Optimization and Continuous Improvement: Monitor application and infrastructure performance, ensuring adherence to SLAs and optimizing for cost efficiency, scalability, and reliability. Lead continuous improvement efforts, assessing system performance and implementing improvements to enhance availability, response times, and user experience. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and providing detailed information for development teams and stakeholders. Mentor and guide development teams on architectural best practices, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning. KEY COLLABORATORS EPMO, business lines, IT business analysts, application development, infrastructure architects, security architects, data architects SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to cross-functional teams, including development, infrastructure, and QA, ensuring alignment with architectural standards and project goals. Coordinate and collaborate with worldwide teams, managing time zone differences effectively to ensure smooth, continuous progress on global projects. Lead technical reviews, mentor team members, and provide feedback to foster skill development and adherence to best practices across all involved teams. Oversee and guide the implementation of architectural designs and ensure quality standards are met at each stage of the software development lifecycle. Serve as a primary point of contact for resolving technical issues, facilitating communication, and promoting teamwork across distributed teams. Monitor project timelines and deliverables, ensuring that global teams work in sync to meet deadlines and project objectives. Facilitate knowledge sharing and maintain open channels of communication across geographically dispersed teams to promote alignment, cohesion, and effective collaboration. COMPETENCIES Alignment w/Sunrise Core Values Adaptability Communication Compliance Dependability & Flexibility Initiative Integrity Judgement Organizational Skills Productivity Professionalism Quality Service Teamwork Technical /PC Skills Work Quality EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field 7 years of experience in application development, infrastructure, and/or solutions architecture with a proven track record of designing and implementing scalable software and infrastructure solutions. Cloud-based systems development and deployment experience strongly preferred. Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Technology Stack, including Microsoft Azure, modern web technologies, databases, and data warehouses. Familiarity with non-Microsoft technologies will be considered. Experience with cloud architecture, including experience with high-availability, multi-region, and hybrid cloud solutions, particularly within the Azure ecosystem. Proficiency in modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipeline design, automation, and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions), with experience building and deploying containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes. Strong systems integration skills, with experience designing and implementing cross-platform integrations and microservices-based architectures. Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS, NIST and experience incorporating these requirements into system architectures. Knowledge of modern UI frameworks, such as Angular or React, for front-end integration and user experience optimization. SQL/PLSQL proficiency and the ability to work with complex databases and data integration within cloud and on-premises environments. Experience with load balancing, monitoring, and performance tuning for applications within cloud and Kubernetes environments. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, facilitate architectural reviews, and lead cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving skills, with experience in troubleshooting complex application and infrastructure issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing sustainable solutions.
