Shockwave Medical, Inc. is a pioneer in the development and commercialization of Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) to treat complex calcified cardiovascular disease. Shockwave Medical aims to establish a new standard of care for medical device treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease through its differentiated and proprietary local delivery of sonic pressure waves for the treatment of calcified plaque. Position Overview The Buyer/Planner will play a pivotal role in the development and production of our medical devices. He/she will be responsible for procuring and planning of goods and services for R&D and production to meet and maintain service levels, quality, cost/project budget and targeted inventory levels. Along with key stakeholders, he/she will help plan and drive transition of development programs to production. This also includes establishing and fostering relationships with suppliers, communicating, and negotiating with suppliers to ensure delivery schedules are met, best prices are obtained and in compliance with regulatory requirements and Shockwave quality standards. Essential Job Functions Supports sourcing, purchasing, planning, and scheduling the movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, supplies, consumables and subcontract items through production and inventory process. Analyze current spend and find areas to improve service, reduce costs, and streamline purchasing procedures. Identify and leverage company-wide spend opportunities . Reviews purchase requisitions for completeness; review support documentation, currency, payment terms, alignment of back up documentation to requisition and clarity of description. Creates purchase orders and provide monthly forecast to suppliers based on production planning requirements. Identifies raw material, component, and related requirements from engineering and production specifications and schedules. Analyzes data and determines factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes. Work with suppliers to negotiate optimal long term and blanket contracts. Develops departmental KPIs and reporting for executive review. Work with suppliers to establish KPIs and drive improvement in all areas measured within the supplier scorecard. Coordinates and follows up with production, warehouse, and engineering personnel to ensure appropriate procurement, scheduling, and movement of materials and services. Monitors status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of materials, including timely resolution, communication, and mitigation of future potential issues. Expedite material delivery or explore other possible options with supplier to avoid parts stock out. Identifies issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns, and quality issues and non-conformances with suppliers. Initiate new supplier set-up process in Oracle and Virje QMS. Produces and develop relevant inventory and procurement reports on a regular basis to track and monitor various areas of performance. Collaborates with vendors to conduct physical inventory, report and resolve potential issues on inventory discrepancy. Attends daily production meeting, track inventory and production status; resolve and escalate issues that can potentially impact supply; provide receiving inspection and lot release testing priority in response to product demand. Attends meetings with key vendors to ensure that delivery schedules are on-track and resolve supplier related issues. Initiates and coordinate shipments of components to sub-contracted vendors for further processing and perform purchase order returns for parts that need to be returned to vendor. Complete various transactions into ERP Oracle system as required. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Associate or Bachelor's degree in business or a related field Two (2) to five (5) years of related experienceor combined equivalent educational qualification and related work experience. One (1) year work experience in a regulated environment (i.e. medical device, pharmaceutical) preferred. NPI experience desired. Ability to work with diversified supplier base and high-mix production environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated analytical capabilities, business savvy, and leadership skills; with a focus on details and accuracy and a strong aim to improve existing process and systems. Self-motivated individual capable of working independently as well as strong team player collaborating with cross-functional teams; build relationships at all levels within the internal organization and external suppliers / vendors. Strong capabilities to develop and to balance immediate/long term priorities with appropriate urgency to meet deadlines and exceptional multi-tasking skills. Working knowledge of quality system requirements and compliance (e.g. traceability, QSRs, ISO, MDD/MDR requirements) and other applicable regulations. Experience working with ERP/MRP systems, Oracle preferred. Understanding of contracts (supply, services, non-disclosures agreements, etc.). Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). APICS certification a plus. Travel up to 15% to support business requirements. Market Range: $75,000 - $94,000 Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
