Overview UW Credit Union is hiring a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer because of an internal promotion in our Information Security team. As a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the security of our electronic data and systems. Your expertise in security engineering, architecture, analysis, and threat hunting will be put to good use in safeguarding our organization and our members from potential threats. Contribute to security projects, risk assessments, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team. Develop, implement, and manage multilevel security strategies and solutions across various platforms while collaborating with technology staff and managers to enhance existing security technologies. Security Architecture and Design - 20% Design and develop security solutions to reduce cybersecurity risks and protect the business, brand, and members. Act as a contributor throughout development phases, recommending new technologies, testing, integrating, and deploying solutions. Play a key role in research, process improvements, standards development, and security assessments to effectively manage security risks Security Analysis - 10% Oversee and evaluate system, network, and endpoint security, promptly responding to incidents and violations, while actively managing and escalating risk and member-impacting issues. Study threat actor techniques, develop detection capabilities, and maintain a current knowledge of security industry trends, products, and events. Provide incident response support, diagnose complex security issues, and effectively communicate security activities and metrics to management. Other Responsibilities - 10% Act as a support expert for security tool portfolio, resolving issues and incidents efficiently. Contribute to the development of meaningful security metrics, ensure up-to-date system documentation, and provide security awareness training to members and staff. Foster teamwork, maintain vendor relationships, participate in Information Security Steering Committee meetings, and adhere to change management policies when developing and documenting system changes. Qualifications What You'll Need to Succeed These experiences are essential to your success: Associate degree in computer science or similar technology related field; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements. 6 years of progressively responsible professional experience in a medium to large network environment. GSEC, Sec, or equivalent certification. GIAC, ISC2,or CISA security certification preferred. Hands-on experience with or strong aptitude to quickly learn the following technologies: Network Security (NextGen Firewalls, IPS/IDS, NAC) Endpoint Security (NextGen AV/AM and EDR, DLP) Incident Response/Threat Hunting (SIEM, Threat Feeds, SOCaaS) Vulnerability Scanning (Vulnerability scanners, risk assessment tools) Email Security (Messaging gateways, hosted email, Authentication) Cloud Security (Basic understanding of cloud provider platforms) Web/DNS Security (URL filtering, DNS filtering) Subject matter expert in networking and firewalls, preferred Familiarity with ITIL and ITSM processes and procedures. Experience with analysis, design, scheduling, and deployment of security-based solutions. Solid understanding of security frameworks such as CIS Critical Controls, NIST, etc. These skills are essential to your success: Advanced technical skills, problem-solving skills, and a talent and passion for technology. Outstanding project management and communication skills, with the ability to lead and coordinate security initiatives across teams and stakeholders. Strong mentoring and coaching skills, with the ability to train and develop team members. Excellent judgment in carrying out responsibilities, with minimal supervision required.
