Seattle Indian Health Board strives to be the provider of choice for American Indian and Alaskan Native People in King County. The Director of Communication plays an integral role in the realization of that goal by taking ownership and providing leadership to forge innovative, compelling strategies for internal and external communication. This individual oversees Marketing and Communications team, and works to tell Seattle Indian Health Board’s story while creating an effective strategy that aligns with our Indigenous Knowledge Informed Systems of Care SIHB Core Competencies Core Competencies are foundational commitments and skills that all SIHB staff are expected to develop. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop, implement and manage communications, marketing, and development policies and procedures. Serve on Divisional Leadership Team, and advise Executive Leadership about communication strategies and plans. Manages team of communications, design and marketing experts Establish and implement social media strategy. Work with SIHBs Executive Leadership Team to increase agency and community visibility, coordinate placement of stories in relevant local, state, national, and international publications. Develop and maintain publication schedule for SIHB (ex. Newsletters, Annual Report). Serve as communications consultant on key projects: advise on style, format, and presentation of content; help contract specialized communications and design services as needed; and help coordinate event support for any site visits or evaluations. Manage production of brand-consistent print collateral, print and electronic invitations and announcements, newsletters and their templates; write news releases or promotional copy as needed. Manage mailing and contact lists, and other marketing/outreach efforts. Manage photography and videography projects Develop data-driven, targeted outreach strategies to internal and external partners. Actively participate in internal quality improvement teams and work with members proactively to drive quality improvement initiatives in accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the organization, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards, when assigned Establish, adapt and maintain a communications strategic plan in collaboration with Executive Leadership Team Work well under pressure, meet multiple and often competing deadlines At all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with supervisors, subordinates, colleagues, clients and the community Other duties and projects as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS BA/BS in Communications, English, Marketing or related field Minimum 5 years work experience in Marketing and/or Communications DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Understanding of American Indian/Alaska Native community and health issues as well as those of the surrounding community.
