Job Summary
The Functional Analyst (Financial Analyst) is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, recording financial transactions, and ensuring reconciliation of subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. The role includes preparing financial statements, variance reports, and conducting account analysis. This position requires collaboration with other business groups, adherence to GAAP, and the production of financial reports to support Client and its subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities
• Produce trial balances, variance reports, and reconcile general ledger accounts for managed funds
• Ensure accuracy of ledger entries and reconcile subsidiary ledgers (e.g., fixed assets, AR/AP aging) to the general ledger
• Prepare journal entries following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Conduct account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation for Client and subsidiaries
• Reconcile statements and investment accounts to the general ledger and prepare monthly consolidated cash activity reports
• Develop recurring reports and analytics for business segments; support ad hoc analysis and special projects
• Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports
• Maintain accurate accounting records, ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree plus at least four years of related experience; or at least eight years of related experience, or equivalent education/experience
• Degree in Accounting preferred
• 3 years of accounting experience and 2 years of financial accounting software and reporting experience
• 2 years of customer service experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong understanding of accounting theory and GAAP
• Ability to identify, research, and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficient in data analysis and Excel for data manipulation
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
• Customer-focused with experience in building effective business relationships
• Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and ERP systems
