An employee of this class is primarily responsible for ensuring financial operations in the Health Department, meeting Federal and State guidelines for internal controls and audit purposes, managing internal and external grants, processing monthly state reporting, processing accounts payables, invoice reconciliation, p-card reconciliation, and Vital Records. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Business Officer II with leeway to exercise independent judgment within the guidelines of established procedures, local ordinances and North Carolina General Statutes governing the responsibilities of local government fiscal operations. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in accounting, finance, business, office administration, public administration or a related field AND one (1) year of work experience in grant reporting or budgeting using excel skills at an intermediate level, OR Graduation from High school or General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency AND three (3) years of work experience in grant reporting or budgeting using excel skills at an intermediate level. Experience in a local government or banking setting is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver License issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of a background check. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.
