Summary Save the Children Action Network ("SCAN") - a 501(c)(4) organization - is the political advocacy arm of Save the Children. We are building bipartisan support to make sure every child has a strong start in life. We're doing this by advocating for high-quality early learning, ending child hunger in the U.S. and educating and protecting kids around the world. The Managing Director, Philanthropy, will lead a team to support the development and execution of an annual fundraising strategy for the SCAN Electoral work and the PAC division Policy and Advocacy work. In support of divisional goals, you will lead your team to build partnerships with the agency's Philanthropy and Partnership (P&P) division to develop a robust pipeline for growth and new funding opportunities for Save the Children's policy and advocacy campaigns, with a specific focus on securing multi-year gifts from high net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations. You will oversee the team charged with Peer-to-Peer Fundraising and help join fundraising and advocacy together. The Peer-to-Peer fundraising team manages the established Save the Children P2P program and the newly created P2P program supporting SCAN's electoral work. Additionally, you will develop prospects and build relationships to increase funding for SCAN's electoral campaigns, ensuring a good mix of funding from low, medium, and high-dollar individual donors. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of SCAN, you will develop and directly or indirectly manage all aspects of donor cultivation, from research to proposal development to report writing to stewardship. In addition, you will manage a fundraising department in SCAN, that includes all aspects of the fundraising strategy. What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties) Team Leadership (25%): Train, develop, coach, lead, and supervise staff, clearly communicating organization, division and department priorities, and how their work contributes to our mission, ensuring that the working environment continually fosters diversity, inclusion, and belonging - supporting SCAN and SCUS's values. Manage the team delivering relevant knowledge on prioritized fundraising areas to advance donor engagement towards our breakthroughs, establishing and improving ways of working across teams within SCAN and SCUS. Support program-focused team members to navigate their cross-divisional responsibilities and to effectively inhabit their dual roles; support efforts to track program specific win/loss rates to identify patterns. Maintain relationships with all relevant teams, ensuring an efficient and effective collaboration focused on achieving our revenue goals. Develop Fundraising Strategy for PAC and SCAN - 20% Oversee the development and implementation of a strategy to achieve private fundraising goals fully in line with divisional plans, focusing on short-term success and long-term support of the policy and advocacy work. Oversee the development of a growth plan for peer-to-peer fundraising program, including strategies to move donors to doers. Work with team to build systems for monitoring a plan that is agreed to and used by both SCAN/PAC team and SCUS's P&P team. Develop a fundraising plan for SCAN's electoral work, including a plan for SCAN's board engagement. Support Cultivation of Current and Prospective Private Donors - 25% Manage and lead cultivation strategies for current and prospective donors for SCAN's electoral work. In partnership with P&P division, develop cultivation strategies for Save the Children's policy and advocacy campaigns, focusing on high-net worth individuals, corporations and foundations, including community foundations in the states where Save the Children and SCAN work. Oversee the development of proposals and reports, ensuring that they are of the highest quality and submitted on time and in accordance with donor requirements. Oversee the development of briefing materials and ensure CEO of Save the Children, VP of PAC, COO of SCAN and other leaders within Save the Children (as necessary) are prepared for donor meetings and outreach; draft all communications; and ensure prompt follow up. Serve as Key Liaison Across Save the Children - 20% Advise Policy, Advocacy & Campaigns leadership team and P&P colleagues on fundraising goals and opportunities, advocacy priorities and best practices. Serve as leadership link with the P&P division for strategy and cultivation of high-dollar donors, including individuals, foundations and corporations. Establish productive work relationships and ensure strong internal communication across the agency to guarantee all external donor communication is coordinated. Collaborate with colleagues across the agency, particularly finance, to ensure all donor expectations for reporting are fully satisfied. Serve on SCAN's Senior Management Team - 10% Effectively work with leaders in SCAN and PAC division on priority projects. Serve as the lead for SCAN's fundraising, engaging SMT as needed in the plans. Required Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 10 years of relevant experience. Demonstrated experience leading a diverse remote teams in developing a comprehensive fundraising plan. Experience leading fundraising efforts for advocacy or electoral campaigns. Experience with prospecting and cultivating existing and new foundation partnerships, especially around advocacy campaigns. Ability to work productively and proactively, both independently and within a cross-functional team environment. Demonstrated ability to anticipate, maintain, and deliver on multiple priorities, often with conflicting deadlines. Professional proficiency in MS Office suite. Professional proficiency in spoken and written English. Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally. Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Preferred Qualifications Experience in online advocacy fundraising. Demonstrated success in writing grants and other donor communications (e.g., letters of inquiry, proposals, reports). Knowledge of customer relationship management databases (e.g., Blackbaud). Compensation Save the Children Action Network pays the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location: Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $131,750 - $147,250 base salary. Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $119,850 - $133,950 base salary. Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $107,950 - $120,650 base salary. The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here).
