Von Dreele – Freerksen Construction Company (VDF) is a general contractor located in Oak Park, IL, with 40 years of experience in the renovation and restoration of historic Chicago area homes. We are a full-service design-build company covering all steps of the design process from consultation to construction. We have worked on over 30 Frank Lloyd Wright homes and countless historic structures throughout the region, helping each of our clients adapt their homes to the 21st century.
We are currently seeking a full-time candidate with carpentry and residential construction experience to help lead our field operations and renovation projects.
Responsibilities:
Manage residential remodeling field work:
Communicate with office staff and clients Coordinate field work with subcontractors
Perform field carpentry, repairs and construction:
Interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches Perform jobsite measurements and do material/lumber take offs Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material according to drawings Build and frame structures by using raw materials or pre-constructed items Lay out cabinetry, and architectural details ensuring they conform to project, plans, and scope Adhere to and encourage current safety standards
Requirements: History of jobsite leadership Experience in site management/Foreman roles, or previous self-employment in construction, remodeling Proven time management skills Ability to identify and solve problems as they arise A willingness to contribute to a variety of tasks in a variety of field conditions Reliable, organized, open-minded, and resourceful Has own hand tools and power tools Proven rough and finish carpentry skills Comprehensive understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction Proficiency in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.) Reliable transportation Company Description:
