Role Overview :
We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic
After-School Program Director
to lead our Youth Development Centers (YDC) in Jamaica, Queens. This role is central to the development and implementation of effective after-school systems and procedures, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring high levels of participant engagement and retention. The After-School Program Director will create a safe, inclusive, and vibrant environment where teamwork, creativity, youth empowerment, and sportsmanship are prioritized. Primary Responsibilities : Program Management : Lead and implement after-school programming based on the Compass/SONYC DYCD model. Manage budgets and ensure all grant objectives and outcomes are met. Operational Excellence : Develop and execute systems, processes, and tools in collaboration with the Multi-Site Director to support efficient site-level operations. Collaboration : Partner with the Multi-Site Director, Education Specialist, and school principal to deliver high-quality, comprehensive programming that meets the needs of participants. Staff Management : Recruit, hire, train, and supervise program staff. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide continuous support and development for staff members. Student Engagement : Drive high levels of student participation and attendance through strategic recruitment and retention initiatives, incorporating “student voice and choice” methodologies. Compliance : Ensure full compliance with SACC, DOE, DOH, and DYCD standards, regulations, and requirements. Travel : Occasionally travel to off-site meetings, trainings, and events as necessary. Additional Duties : Undertake other duties as assigned to support program and organizational success. Qualifications : Education : Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Social Work, Education, or a related field is preferred. Experience : At least two years of supervisory and management experience in youth programs, including experience in staff training and evaluation. Skills : Demonstrated ability to serve as a positive role model for young people. Proven experience in program outreach, recruitment, budget management, and compliance with licensing procedures. Communication : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational and programming capabilities. Technical Skills : Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce; willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies. Confidentiality : Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion.
