NRDC is seeking a Senior Tax Attorney to work with the Climate & Energy team in our Washington, D.C. office. Position Summary

NRDC is hiring a Senior Tax Attorney. The Senior Tax Attorney will focus on the implementation of clean energy, transportation, and climate-focused tax credits. They will attend policy meetings, work with private sector stakeholders, engage in joint advocacy with other partners, conduct policy analysis and development, and participate in regulatory, legislative, and litigation research and drafting. The Senior Tax Attorney will be involved directly in the development of tax law advocacy strategies and in the preparation of NRDC tax law materials designed to achieve rapid and sustained deployment of clean energy and transportation solutions. The Senior Tax Attorney will work in NRDC's Climate & Energy Program and will work in close coordination with many parts of NRDC including litigation experts, policy advocates, policy experts, and communications professionals. They will collaborate with other environmental, consumer, labor, racial justice, community, and public health groups. They will be supervised by a senior member of the Climate & Energy Program and affiliated with NRDC's Washington, D.C. office. This is a 2-year limited term role. Responsibilities

Play a leadership role in partnering with key stakeholders on tax implementation priorities, and in preparing NRDC tax law materials to support our climate and environmental goals. Manage priority tax law implementation projects, including developing project plans and timelines, tracking key deliverables, preparing agendas, and leading internal and external meetings. Develop strong relationships, including with business groups, individual companies, state and local governmental entities, and other non-profits and advocates. Collaborate with a multi-faceted internal team to advance tax law implementation priorities including campaign, communications, public engagement, and policy experts. Draft messaging, talking points, and other communication resources in support of tax law implementation priorities. Advocate for, and be a public speaker on, clean energy tax topics with the administration and Congress. Be a central part of a strong and collegial team that is focused on collaboration, approaches advocacy with innovation and optimism, and is committed to leveraging the full range of expertise within NRDC and among its partners. Qualifications

Commitment to NRDC's mission and values. Juris Doctorate from any accredited law school and tax law experience. Admission to a state bar. Seven years of relevant work experience. Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and oral communication skills. Strong academic and professional record. Comfort interpreting scientific and technical concepts. Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for teamwork. Capacity to work hard, efficiently, and independently. Commitment to public service or social justice work. Preferred

Strict adherence to confidentiality requirements and discretion with sensitive information. High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), in addition to knowledge of or ability to learn relevant industry and NRDC specific software and platforms.
