Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
15 years of software engineering experience
Experience creating roadmaps for execution, including timelines and projected engineering resources
Experience influencing multiple teams of engineers concurrently while partnering across the organization on development initiatives
Experience as a technical leader, leading engineering teams and supporting the development of innovative technology
Preferred qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Experience as an engineering leader
Experience innovating with technology at scale, while motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of outlook and purpose
Expertise in databases/storage, including structured and unstructured blobs, applying to a scale of users, including understanding concepts of cost, reliability, and compliance. Knowledge of Spanner
Expertise in OLAP or analytics workflows, and how to extract data insights both real-time and in batch
Knowledge in databases, storage, and analytical processing
As a Principal Engineer in Applied AI, you will be responsible for the technical architecture for the product portfolio. Through having an entrepreneurial and strategic mindset, you will deliver architecture that enables the ability to deliver high impact features, at a faster time to market, with reduced cost, while managing data governance and reliability requirements. You will partner with other Google Cloud AI experts and researchers to ensure appropriate architecture and apply research ideas. You will work cross-functionally to execute the architecture and enable feature launches, cost savings, reliability, and data insight improvements. Technical scope includes CES (Engagement Suite) CCA, Food Ordering, and Healthcare Life Sciences. You will be responsible for technical guidance and architecture across Applied AI products. You will be expected to actively develop and grow talent through effective mentoring, coaching, and retention strategies for key talent while providing an environment where everyone can do their very best work.
Compensation:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $278,000-$399,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
