IF APPOINTED PROVISIONALLY THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST BE QUALIFIED TO TAKE THE CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION WHEN MADE AVAILABLE. FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HOLD THE TITLE OF ACCOUNTANT OR MUST BE CANVASSED AND REACHABLE FROM THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE LIST.
JOB DUTIES: Performs general accounting duties such as maintaining a general ledger, making journal entries, assisting principals and supervisors in regard to appropriate balances and transfers and with any questions; Appointed as Deputy Treasurer and assists with banking duties; Responsible for all transactions, reporting, and monitoring in the Special Aid Fund, Assists with General Fund; A nalysis, recording, and monitoring of Medicaid, e-Rate, budget transfers; Assists and d evelops, recommends, and implements new accounting procedures and systems in order to provide a clear audit trail of financial transactions as needed; Assists with budget preparation; Assists District Treasurer and Assistant Superintendent for Finance with any special projects as needed.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors or higher degree in Accounting or related field, with a minimum of 24 credit hours in accounting and 4 years of accounting or auditing experience. Associates Degree in Accounting accompanied by six years' experience in the field. Proficiency with Excel is required, School District accounting and knowledge is preferred.
