Gecko Hospitality is proud to partner with a high-performing catering operation to find an experienced and driven Executive Sous Chef. About the Role

 

The Executive Sous Chef will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of this operation. Working closely with the General Manager and kitchen teams, this position oversees all back-of-house operations, team leadership, food quality, and adherence to health and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for nutritious and innovative cuisine, catering primarily to elite clientele, and a strong background in culinary management.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and inspire kitchen staff to consistently deliver top-quality cuisine and service.
  • Maintain high standards of food preparation, execution, presentation, and safety.
  • Oversee food and labor costs to ensure alignment with budgetary goals.
  • Develop and implement operational systems, scheduling, and training for kitchen staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Development Team to execute menus with precision.
  • Handle food sourcing, purchasing, and inventory management efficiently.
  • Actively maintain cleanliness, organization, and professionalism in the kitchen.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading high-volume, high-quality kitchens, preferably with catering expertise.
  • Expertise in Whole 30, Paleo, Vegan, and Vegetarian cooking methodologies is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of nutrition, ideally with experience in sports nutrition.
  • Proven skills in team leadership, training, and development.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost control.
  • Physical ability to meet the demands of a dynamic kitchen environment.
  • Valid Health Department Food Handler’s Card; bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
