The Staff Accountant position offers an opportunity to work with a leader in union electrical contracting in the New York metropolitan area. This role involves a variety of accounting responsibilities including payroll processing, union reporting, accounts payable, and tax filing.
Responsibilities
Handling payroll for both field and office personnel, including online payroll tax payments.
Creating union benefit and pension reports, and communicating with the union as needed.
Managing files for hires, terminations, and layoffs.
Processing invoices, preparing checks and ACH batches, and maintaining vendor files.
Preparing and filing monthly and quarterly sales tax returns.
Performing bank reconciliations and reviewing daily transactions.
Managing online positive pay for operating and payroll checks, and handling daily remote check deposits.
Providing system runs and preparing ad-hoc analyses as requested.
Essential Skills
Experience in reporting, accounts payable, reconciliation, and tax filing.
Proficiency in payroll processing and system analysis.
2-4 years of experience supporting a union contracting company within Accounting/Finance.
Proficiency in using a fully-integrated ERP system.
Strong skills in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
Effective communication and multi-tasking abilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in general ledger and month-end financial reporting.
Work Environment
This position is fully on-site at 132 West 36th Street, 2nd Floor, New York, New York, US.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $80000.00/hr.
Payroll Processing: Handling payroll for both field and office personnel, including online payroll tax payments.
