The Heavy Hauler position is responsible for the pick-up and delivery of heavy construction equipment at customer sites and other job locations in a manner that reflects the University's vision

of working as "One Professional Team." This position is responsible for maintaining proper paperwork and ensuring a professional appearance with all vehicles/equipment in addition to being accountable for basic operational instruction to customers on the safe operation of all equipment. Hauling larger loads for special projects when a CDL class dump truck is required. Required to be in a CDL class A dump with plow and spreader during snow emergency. Coordinating delivery and pick up schedules and verifying repairs. May be required to respond to emergency calls as needed for the best interest of the University.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Determining the total weight & size requirements, gross combination weight, axel loading, components, load size. Responsible for loading & delivery, meeting rigging requirements, securing designated loading zones and confirming accessible delivery locations. Planning your route, terrain type, road condition, and permit acquisition if required. Hauling larger loads for special project when a larger CDL class dump truck is required. Required to be in a CDL class dump with plow and spreader during snow emergency. Coordinate with University personnel. Inspects, mechanical, electrical, and other defects on university equipment (Equipment includes, but is not limited to, University assets such as heavy equipment, dump trucks, trailers, bulldozers, telehandlers, Boom lifts, etc. Inspect hydraulic systems on multiple types of equipment and vehicles. Maintains records of repairs made, work orders, and time worked through departmental approved means. Reports any unsafe conditions regarding the use of equipment. Conducts daily post-trip vehicle inspection as required. Ensures entire vehicle is clean and meets professional standards. Ensures vehicle is ready for next day business, including fuel fills and pre-loads, whenever possible. Must follow departmental approved method of documentation. Must be able to communicate service and repair problems and procedures with operator and Manager. Maintains vehicles and equipment to ensure safe conditions; includes daily inspections of tires, lights, signals, glass, etc. Vehicle fluids and tire air pressures must be checked and serviced daily. Required to meet the criteria to receive a university p card. Understands and complies with DOT Federal Motor Carrier regulations. Shall enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Such as the participation with various projects and presentations assigned by Management. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies

High School Diploma with at least 10 years of job-related experience in equipment hauling, preventative maintenance, and semi-skilled experience in the service and repair of equipment. 5+ years of lift, small equipment, and heavy equipment operation. Continuing Education and Certifications are a plus. Must have decent computer skills. Knowledge in Microsoft Office preferred. Excellent communication skills. Great Organizational Skills a must. Valid state driver's license required. Must have a current Class A CDL.
