The VPP is, alongside the Executive team, responsible for ensuring that our teams are engaged and aligned, and that our people are set up in an environment where they can consistently deliver on our core purpose and our core behaviors.
The VPP will sit on the executive leadership team, shaping and driving the overall People strategy to support the company's objectives. They will oversee all aspects of human resources, with a focus on integrating HR functions with operational initiatives. They will be able to balance the need for compliance with a desire for getting results. The ideal candidate can critically assess individual scenarios while also supporting the needs of a team. They will bring a proven history of HR leadership, combined with strong experience in operations or sales, to align people strategies with business outcomes.
The position is based in our HQ office in Chicago (3611 N. Kedzie Ave). The role is hybrid work-from-home though requires very frequent presence and travel to our Chicago-area clubs.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic People Leadership:
Develop and execute strategies that support the organization’s short- and long-term business goals, particularly in workforce planning, talent acquisition, development, and retention. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with sales, operations, and other departments to ensure initiatives align with business goals, supporting performance improvement, operational efficiency, and revenue growth. Operational Oversight:
Support operational leaders by identifying and addressing HR needs in areas such as staffing, team performance, and leadership development to maximize operational efficiency. Talent Acquisition & Retention:
Lead efforts to attract top talent, create a dynamic and inclusive work environment, and reduce turnover through effective employee engagement programs. Performance Management:
Implement and oversee performance management systems that drive a high-performance culture, offering clear career progression pathways for employees at all levels. Compensation & Benefits:
Manage the development of competitive compensation and benefits programs that reward high performers and align with market trends, while optimizing company resources. Employee Development:
Foster a learning culture by implementing effective training, leadership development, and succession planning programs to ensure continuous growth of the company’s talent pool. Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with labor laws, industry standards, and corporate policies, minimizing legal risks and promoting a culture of ethical behavior. Employee Relations & Engagement:
Champion initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction, promote diversity and inclusion, and maintain positive employee relations. Core Competencies:

Ability to see the big picture and translate business needs into actionable HR strategies. Operational Excellence:
Understanding of how HR can support and enhance operational efficiency and sales success. People-Centric Leadership:
A collaborative leader with a passion for developing and empowering people. Analytical & Data-Driven:
Strong critical thinking skills with a data-driven approach to measuring success in HR programs and initiatives. Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in a senior leadership role, with at least 5 years working in an operational or sales-focused environment. Experience managing HR in a multi-site or national context is preferred. Proven ability to navigate complex employee relations issues, collective bargaining agreements, change management, and organizational restructuring when needed. SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar certifications are a plus. Application Process:
