Job Title GIS Data Administrator Job Type Full-Time Category Information Technology Location NCTCOG - ARLINGTON, TX 76005 US (Primary) Travel Job Description GIS Data Administrator The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking a talented and motivated professional to administer the enterprise GIS deployment. The position manages GIS software, associated components, and related data and serves as the primary point of contact for the enterprise GIS infrastructure. A thorough understanding of GIS endpoints and architecture are required for success in this position. Other critical elements include excellent project management and communication skills as this position provides high-level expertise and serves as liaison between various internal stakeholders and IT technical staff. A strong background in IT is beneficial. For the right candidate with imprecise but transferable skills, this position could include training opportunities that would enable the candidate to grow into the position. Primary Responsibilities: Maintain GIS software by coordinating installs, updates, and upgrades (occasional evening or weekend work required) Manage user rights to enterprise server software and databases and user account permissions for licenses, extensions, add-ins, and data storage Create and/or maintain web services, apps, and add-ins Understand authentication methods (SSO) and utilize per best practices Monitor and communicate GIS enterprise system performance Work closely with IT staff and software providers to ensure system performance continuously meets requirements Anticipate issues and devise action plans in coordination with stakeholders Review logs, perform data queries, recreate steps, and interact with users and/or software support staff to troubleshoot and promptly resolve issues Document processes, procedures, instructions, and techniques Ensure that security requirements are met Perform other related duties as assigned Essential Skills Experience deploying and administering Esri Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and Portal Experience administering an enterprise relational database management system Experience with geospatial data including writing original queries of data in a geospatial environment for presentation, reporting, and analysis Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python Knowledge of ArcGIS API for Java script Able to analyze situations, think critically, and devise solutions Able to exercise significant independent judgement and work with minimal supervision Able to interact with both highly technical and non-technical groups at all levels within an organization Experience documenting procedures and writing instructions Able to effectively convey complex ideas or relationships to a variety of audiences both orally and in writing Able to learn new skills through formal training or independent initiative Able to understand challenging or abstract concepts Able to conduct research and read/understand technical documents and reports Able to exhibit professionalism in all aspects of duties and committed to high-quality output Required Experience: At least three years of direct experience and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Scientific or technical field is preferred. Candidates with related experience and formal education in a non-technical field will also be considered. A total of 9 years of experience may be substituted for non-degreed candidates with demonstrated significant, related competencies. FLSA: Exempt Starting Salary Range: $76,950 - $88,100, depending on qualifications and experience.
