Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting Operations: Manage daily accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger maintenance, and cash management. Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies while driving process improvements.
- Accounts Payable/Bill Pay: Supervise accounts payable to ensure prompt vendor payments and effective resolution of any issues. Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain strong accounting practices.
- Financial Close Process: Streamline month-end and year-end financial close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Audit Management: Lead all aspects of audit processes, including managing historical audits and ensuring ongoing compliance with GAAP.
- Technical Accounting Expertise: Provide expertise on complex accounting matters, including stock-based compensation, equity transactions, revenue recognition, and deferred tax accounting.
- Accounting Policies Development: Maintain and develop accounting policies to support the company's growth and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Global Consolidations: Oversee consolidation processes for US and international entities, ensuring compliance with global reporting standards.
- New Business Initiatives: Offer technical accounting support for new business ventures, M&A activities, and product launches.
- Tax Compliance: Partner with external tax firms to ensure accurate and timely tax filings across multiple jurisdictions.
- System Integration: Collaborate on the integration of new accounting and HR systems, ensuring seamless transitions and accurate data migration.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a Senior Accountant, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and provide insights for executive reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA certification required.
- 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience in asset management or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, audit management, and global consolidation practices.
- Proven experience with accounting software such as NetSuite or SAP.
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor team members.
- Proactive, hands-on approach to challenges with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
- Competitive salary: $160k-$185k USD plus equity.
