In this vital role you will focus on ensuring successful progression of high value AI and other technology initiatives, placing a strong emphasis on acceleration to value within Amgen’s Technology Innovation Lab, part of AI & Data function. This role will work with the Director, Digital Product Management within the Technology Innovation Lab and will work with various multi-functional partners as well as external collaborators and play a pivotal role in driving value towards Amgen’s AI strategic imperatives and digital transformation, ensuring timely and effective delivery.This Director position will:Lead Product Ownership for AI and Technology Solutions: Act as the Product Owner within an Agile framework, ensuring that AI and technology products meet the needs of collaborators and align with the organization’s strategic goals. This includes defining the vision, roadmap, and priorities for the AI portfolio.Bridge Technical and Business Strategy: Serve as a key liaison between cross-functional teams, including Business, ATMOS, and external partners. Translate business needs into technical requirements and prioritize initiatives to increase impact.Facilitate AI Initiative Progression: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of AI and machine learning initiatives, ensuring alignment with process standards and timely delivery.Champion Value Acceleration and Scalability: Lead initial scaling process for AI products aligned with Amgen’s scaling operating model, implementing standard methodologies in product and platform scaling to ensure AI solutions are enterprise-ready.Develop Strategic Insights: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the technology landscape as applied to relevant initiatives, and provide guidance on technology identification, selection, and roadmapNavigate Project Hurdles: Actively identify and resolve issues and risks, ensuring seamless progression and continuity across AI projects.Master User Adoption: Maintain deep understanding of end user needs, translated into optimal feature prioritization as well as change management strategy and deliver to drive maximum, sustained adoption of technologyCommunicate with Transparency: Represent projects and deliver insights to key collaborators (e.g., Technology Innovation Lab, ATMOS Governance, etc.) to ensure transparency, alignment, and understanding of project status, priorities, and impact.What we expect of youWe are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The product management professional we seek is a strategic problem solver with these qualifications.Basic Qualifications:Doctorate degree and 3 years of technology and/or product management experienceMasters degree and 5 years of technology and/or product management experienceBachelor degree and 7 years of technology and/or product management experienceAssociate degree and 9 years of technology and/or product management experienceHigh school diploma / GED and 13 years of technology and/or product management experiencePreferred Qualifications:Aligns Product Vision with Business and Technical Requirements: Translates organizational goals into clear product requirements, ensuring alignment between technical capabilities and business objectives.Foundational Technical Competencies: Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas—data science, machine learning, coding (Python, R, or similar), or MLOps. Ability to engage with data scientists and machine learning engineers to guide project scope and technical feasibility.Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities to address complex challenges in AI development and to derive insights for strategic decision-making.Effective Communication Skills: Demonstrable ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical collaborators and communicate priorities, status updates, and outcomes effectively across all levels.Project and Relationship Management: Excellent project management skills with a record of building strong partnerships across multi-functional teams and managing diverse workloads to meet deadlines.Independent and Collaborative Working Style: Ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance and know when to seek input, combined with a collaborative approach to achieve alignment and support project goals.AI and Digital Transformation Competence: Understanding of AI-focused solutions and digital transformation trends, particularly in life sciencesWhat you can expect of usAs we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for your professional and personal growth and well-being.
