Job Overview We are in search of a highly skilled and motivated Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to join our progressive organization within the energy sector. Key Responsibilities As the Chief Accounting Officer, your primary responsibilities will include: Leading and supervising the company's comprehensive accounting functions, including billing, financial reporting, general ledger oversight, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and revenue recognition. Partnering with external auditors to address all audit-related matters and ensure compliance with standards, including the preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Ensuring timely and precise SEC reporting, encompassing 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K filings, and proxy statements. Developing and managing a thorough job cost system to bolster business operations. Overseeing the financial planning and budgeting processes to ensure alignment with strategic goals. Establishing and managing internal financial controls in accordance with company protocols. Effectively communicating financial metrics to senior management and the board of directors. Managing relationships with insurance providers while ensuring compliance with pertinent legal and regulatory requirements. Overseeing transaction processing systems to guarantee operational efficiency and accuracy. Required Skills To thrive in this role, candidates should possess: Comprehensive knowledge of finance, accounting, and budgeting principles, including a solid understanding of GAAP. Proficiency in financial data analysis and the preparation of accurate financial reports, statements, and projections. Exceptional organizational capabilities, along with a meticulous attention to detail and the ability to adhere to deadlines. Strong leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to cultivate relationships and effectively lead teams. Qualifications Candidates must meet the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (MBA or Master's in Accounting preferred). Active CPA certification. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level accounting or finance capacity, preferably within the energy sector. Experience in public accounting and SEC reporting, with a demonstrable track record in managing audits and compliance. In-depth understanding of federal and state financial regulations. Experience with public company transformations, including IPOs.
