We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our growing team in Luzerne County. You will work closely with project managers, contractors, architects, and clients to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Client Details

This Luzerne County based general contractor was established over 35 years ago and has developed a very strong reputation in the area. They strongly believe in valuing and advancing their employees' careers, forming positive relationships within the community, and promoting safe, well-built projects. They primarily focus in the commercial construction sector, including retail, hospitality, K-12, restaurants, and more. They are looking for an experienced Estimator to help lead projects.

Description

This estimator will:

  • Cost Estimating: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for a variety of construction projects including residential, commercial, and industrial.
  • Takeoffs and Quantity Surveying: Conduct site visits and perform material takeoffs and quantity surveys from project plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Bid Preparation: Develop and submit detailed bids and proposals for construction projects, considering labor, material, and equipment costs.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Communicate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to gather pricing and ensure the best value for materials and services.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyze cost trends, budgets, and historical data to provide recommendations and assist in cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Project Scheduling: Work closely with project managers to ensure estimated timelines align with project schedules and deliverables.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks related to project costs, timelines, and resources, and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and changes in project scope, providing updates as necessary to stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Act as a liaison between the design team, project managers, and contractors to ensure clear communication and smooth project execution.

Profile

The Estimator should have:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, with a proven track record of estimating for residential, commercial, or industrial projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage Estimating, Buildertrend, or similar). Strong knowledge of MS Excel, Bluebeam, and project management tools.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, codes, and regulations.
