COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

Union Rescue Mission (URM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. We are dedicated to serving men, women, and children experiencing homelessness and providing comprehensive emergency and long-term services to help them escape the dangerous streets of Skid Row. Established in 1891, URM is now one of the largest rescue missions of its kind in the United States and the oldest in Los Angeles. POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the timeliness and integrity of key financial information, and the development and maintenance of financial policies, procedures and controls directed at safeguarding the Mission's assets, optimizing cash flow and strengthening the financial performance.

DIRECTOR OF FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Participates in the Mission's strategic direction in achieving its goals for solid revenue growth and long-term organizational health. Generates financial statements. Review all entries and coding in the financial system prior to posting and make changes, as needed. Provides strategic direction and day to day leadership for respective departments. Serves as a financial strategist and business advisor in consulting with other members of the leadership team in the development of key financial/business strategies and the development and implementation of organizational performance measurements. Facilitates the development of the Mission's annual budget, tracks and reports on progress throughout the year. Ensures the day-to-day maintenance of the Accounting system, and development and maintenance of financial and accounting policies, as well as budgeting and other systems for internal control. Plans and directs treasury activities which include the care and custody of funds and other financial assets; oversees cash management function. Serves as a liaison with the financial community. Serves as liaison with the Mission's independent auditors. Ensures that the organization complies with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Recruits, develops, and orchestrates efforts of high caliber department staff with diverse, complimentary skills. Ensures ongoing improvement in the Mission's information technology capabilities to facilitate timely and effective decision making. Responsible for Risk Management Program; establishes appropriate controls to manage risk exposure and minimize potential liability; obtains and monitors appropriate and/or legally and contractually required insurance coverage for the Mission and its assets. Ensures monthly P&L's are prepared accurately and understood by operating departments. Performs other tasks and projects as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURES:

Accounting/Finance degree and 10+ years progressively responsible, related financial management experience with at least 6 years of related experience in not-for-profit organizations. Solid understanding of Excel- Index Match Functionality. CPA, preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Highly experienced in integrated accounting systems (Abila MIP Fund Accounting, Microix), CRMs (Salesforce) and other financial and operational systems. Must be able to analyze complex data and develop recommendations and solutions. Must be able to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively. Strong understanding of nonprofit management, including finance, and administration. Ability to think strategically, synthesize the most complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions. Must be well-versed in the use of technology applied in financial and operational environments. Highly experienced in the New Market Tax Credit Program, retail and construction. Strong orientation toward detail, quality and task completion. Excellent planning, organizing and leadership/supervisory skills. Excellent executive level presentation skills. Ability to interact effectively with clients at all levels and across diverse cultures. Ability to facilitate progressive change. Ability to interact positively with the Board of Directors.

$110,000 - $130,000 (depending on experience)
