Role Summary Internship Term: Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates.To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and December 2027. As an ML/AI intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and optimization of learning-based control systems for Rivian's advanced autonomy systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance vehicle performance, stability, and safety through innovative control techniques. Responsibilities Collaborate with the controls engineering team to understand and contribute to the design and development of control systems. Implement learning-based controls algorithm, vehicle dynamics, and simulation environments to real-world and industry-specific applications. Conduct research on the latest advancements in machine learning and reinforcement learning and explore their applications in control systems. Analyze and interpret data from various sensors and feedback systems to improve control algorithms. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of control algorithms into existing systems. Qualifications Currently pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on ML/AI. Strong understanding of control theory, feedback systems, and dynamics. Experience with numerical optimization algorithms and optimization solvers. Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ or Python. Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Excellent communication skills to present complex ideas to a non-technical audience. Experience with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) and real-time control systems. Familiarity with machine learning and reinforcement learning concepts and frameworks. Knowledge of optimization techniques for control systems. Previous internship or project experience in controls and machine learning is a plus. LI-[SAI7] Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships : The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law. Rivian provides robust wellness benefits, and a medical insurance package for interns, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
