As a Machine Learning Engineering Tech Lead in the Data and AI Center Of Excellence, you will lead the charge in helping develop cutting edge solutions. You will be at the intersection of Data Science, Machine Learning, and Software Engineering, designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models and algorithms. You will be responsible for overseeing the development, deployment, and maintenance of machine learning model pipelines and systems that drive our products and services. Your role will involve strategic planning, technical leadership, and hands-on engineering. IDEXX Data and AI Center Of Excellence (COE) develops and delivers data and AI assets and solutions to enhance IDEXX products, services, internal operations, and business practices. It is a large team of talented engineers, architects, data scientists, and analysts driving cutting-edge AI innovation in veterinary care. We create solutions that will shape the technological landscape of IDEXX as it builds innovative products and services for customers and employees. In this role: You will be responsible for the scalability, performance, and reliability of applications, training, and inference workflows. You will design and implement robust data pipelines to support machine learning workflows. You will conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality code and adherence to best practices in machine learning and software engineering. You will define and implement software architecture and design patterns. You will conduct architectural reviews and provide guidance on best practices. You will ensure alignment with overall technical strategy and business goals. You will demonstrate innovation by finding unique and innovative ways to apply your expertise to a variety of problems. Collaboration and Development: You will collaborate in designing and developing an AI Development Platform, driving the adoption of AI capabilities throughout the enterprise. You will work closely with Data Engineering and DevOps to design robust processing workflows and pipelines. You will work closely with technical product management/owners and engineering teams to discover AI/ML-related reusable datasets, design patterns, components, libraries, and infrastructure to optimize costs and find multi-functional commonalities. You will successfully balance cost, time, and technical capabilities when implementing solutions which meet all stakeholders' requirements. Standards and Best Practices: You will produce and enforce data and AI development standards. Ensure the concept of data integrity and that the data's strategic value is understood and practiced throughout the Company. You will work with team leadership to establish scalable and efficient workflows and patterns which can be leveraged across multiple CoE projects. Leadership and Coaching: You will provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning. Consistently drives initiatives/efforts to successful completion and closure in an extremely timely manner. You will create a results focused team atmosphere, allowing your team to meet their full potential through a pursuit of excellence. Mentoring and Documentation: You will help scope and define work for other team members in collaboration with product owners and other team leads. You will mentor other development and business teams on data architecture design and requirements. You will document research findings, prepare technical reports, and contribute to whitepapers/scientific publications. Optimizing System Performance: You will manage incoming technical requests and design systems for optimum performance; proactively identify potential problems; create and modify strategies to resolve problems; and document issues and resolutions. What You Will Need to Succeed: You hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 10 years of total technical experience. Your background includes experience as a software engineer or machine learning engineer focusing on AI solutions. You have a strong knowledge of AI and ML and experience implementing solutions. You can define architectural patterns for data pipelines and ecosystems that are resilient to growth and change from the business. You have strong software engineering skills for the rapid and accurate development of AI models and systems. You are proficient in at least one prominent programming language (preferably Python). You have hands-on experience with technologies like Databricks, and Delta Tables. You have a broad understanding of data engineering (SQL, NoSQL, Big Data), Agile, UX, Cloud, software architecture, and cybersecurity, ModelOps/MLOps. You have experience in DevOps and an understanding of CI/ CD. You have an uncommon ability to anticipate how technology changes will affect solution design and data use and manipulate architecture to adapt.
