The agency is located at the George Herbert Walker Bush State Building located in the Capitol Complex at 1801 N. Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78701. The THECB does not allow dual employment with other state of Texas agencies or institutions. Note: Salary range for Systems Analyst III- $5,583 - $6,147. Salary range for Systems Analyst IV - $5,583 - $6,333. Introduction: The candidate should be able to perform below tasks: 1. Power BI Administration and development activities 2. Collaborate with business and technical team to understand the requirement and implement that by following industry best practices and THECB agency's ITS standards General Description: Building Power BI reports to support the Information Technology Services Division of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) legacy modernization project. Work involves collaborating with business and development teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications; develop, test and deploy Power BI reports to higher environments following industry best practices while meeting business requirements. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position reports to Director. General Duties and Responsibilities: Analyze business requirements and provides optimal solutions using agile methodologies that correspond to THECB policies and procedures. Promotes and adopts consistent testing standards, tools, and processes. Coordinate and/or perform work on Power BI projects, including highly complex in nature and/or large in scale. Create and manage complex Power BI reports. Support multiple Power BI projects and customer enhancements using an Agile methodology. Ability to move Power BI components from development to production using pipelines in Azure DevOps. Background of data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining. Familiarity with data integration (ETL) solutions and logical data modeling. Develop and document standards/best practices for development and administration of the Power BI platform. Assist in development of workbooks and dashboards to support business initiatives. Perform research and analysis required for project proposals, and new projects. Develop instructions or user manuals for end users. Complete regular internal system audits. Perform all other duties as assigned. Skill in effective oral and written communication. A team player having open mind to learn and grow technical and soft skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the software development lifecycle Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies Skill in using personal computers, general office software, databases, and computer programs Skill in communicating both in writing and verbally Ability to effectively handle multiple responsibilities and priorities and manage time in a fast-paced and sometimes pressured environment Ability to work on detailed i formation and provide accurate, organized results Ability to work well in groups, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally Ability to interact professionally with customers, users, and other participants in the admin and development process Ability to think critically, use logic and reasoning, and identify alternative solutions to problems Ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information Military Crosswalk: Military Crosswalk for Occupational Category - Information Technology (texas.gov) Qualifications: Required Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university Six additional months of relevant full-time work experience may substitute for 15 semester credit hours of required education, up to four years Programmer III Two years of relevant full-time work experience with Power BI including: Power BI product knowledge 1 years of SQL server experience ability to write complex queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) 1 year experience with Azure SQL data warehouses MS Power BI Suit (Power Query/M/DAX) Programmer IV All of the above functions for a Programmer III, PLUS: Four years of relevant full-time work experience with Power BI including: Strong Power BI product knowledge 3 years of SQL server experience ability to write complex queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) 2 years of experience with Azure SQL data warehouses 1 years of experience with MS Power BI Suit (Power Query/M/DAX) Preferred: Power BI PL-300 certified Experienced or interested in Power Application, Power Automate Developments Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems, or Management Information Systems Working in SCRUM or Agile environment Experience with State or Federal government processes Physical Requirements and/or Working Conditions: Work is performed in a standard office environment and requires: Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance at work; Frequent use of personal computer, copiers, printers, and telephones; Frequent sitting Frequently working under deadlines, as a team member, and in direct contact with others. If/when working from home, a strong, reliable internet connection and a dedicated workspace are required Workforce: Must be able to: Demonstrate knowledge of customer service deliverables. Show flexibility and adaptability toward changes in assignments and work schedules, working extended hours as necessary. Adhere to the organizations internal management policies and procedures.
