Plumber ApprenticeJOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 09/25/2024 POSTING NUMBER: 047352 LOCATION: Maintenance Department - 930 POSITION TITLE: Plumber Apprentice JOB DESCRIPTION: Assist journeyman plumber to maintain, repair, and install plumbing systems, services, and equipment for the District, including kitchen equipment. Assist journeyman plumber in maintaining and providing for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing fixtures and systems in District facilities. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Help or assist Journeyman plumbers in daily tasks as directed by the Plumber or Plumbing Supervisor. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc. Follow chain of command procedures. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor. Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition. Inspect tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed. Maintain inventory of District-owned tools, equipment, and materials. Respond to emergency calls as needed and be on-call/stand-by as assigned by supervisor. Maintain confidentiality. Regular attendance. Follow all District rules regulations and policies. Other duties assigned. EXPERIENCE: None QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED Valid Texas driving license Plumber Apprentice License (obtain within 90 days of hire) Special Knowledge/Skills : Willing attitude and ability to learn Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Ability to use hand and power tools CONTACT INFORMATION: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Continual walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching. Working in tiring and uncomfortable positions around equipment with high speed moving parts. Ability to lift 50 pounds above head. Working in and around equipment panels with high voltage electrical connections. Working with or around high-pressure refrigerants, gas and air lines. Working with or around equipment where combustion of flammable gasses are present. Exposure to dampness, excessive noises, gas lines, extreme temperatures, humidity, dust, toxic and or corrosive chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline and diesel fuel. Frequent District wide travel.
