Overview
Emerald is seeking an highly motivated and experienced International Business Development Sales Director to drive growth sales across our Design portfolio of events. This role will be responsible for developing overseas sales and international relations for specific Emerald brands, including but not limited to Design, Hospitality, Home and Contemporary furniture, and other events as assigned by Emerald leadership.
Working closely with the Vice President and existing staff , the International Business Development Sales Director will be responsible to overall sales maintaining international retention client responsibility, cultivating senior-level relationships in both trade show and international trade industries, as well as with government agencies and international organizations around the globe to develop strategies that improve revenues. The International Business Development Sales Director also plays a role in educating international manufacturers in our key verticals on 'how to do business' within the United States successfully.
The International Business Development Sales Director acts as an ambassador within the global marketplace for Emerald. This position compliments our existing connections, content and commerce teams to provide an additional resource to expand opportunities for international manufacturers and brands to do business within Emerald's B2B platforms.
International travel required. Candidates must be based within the US.
Responsibilities
Maintain an international sales territory of an established customer base while identifying new customers through prospecting and timely fulfillment of customer requests Assess potential new markets evaluate business opportunities, and develop strategies for targeting new potential customers and verticals Generate year-over-year revenue sales growth in booth space, sponsorship, and content Manage a team of international sales agents and report pacing and progress weekly to senior leadership Identify revenue growth opportunities and present sales plans to senior leadership to drive international supplier/brand acquisition and development Produce and facilitate ongoing educational programs for foreign vendors/exhibitors/suppliers and agents both in person and via webinars Lead networking and matchmaking strategies for international vendors/exhibitors and attendees Maintain pipeline and track all opportunities in Sales Force Analyze the needs of international clients and propose programs that meet those needs for them to successfully expand their business into the U.S. Support and help develop overall international sales and attendee strategies for Emerald Qualifications
At least 5 years of international sales experience, with a preference for experience in international trade development, international sourcing, or international trade show sales. Strong sales and negotiation skills with the ability to close deals independently Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions. Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies. Proven track record of exceeding quotas by delivering at least $2+ million in revenue per year. Ability to clearly, respectfully, and persuasively communicate over the phone, in writing, and face-to-face within assigned territories Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret information from original data sources to create effective presentations. Ability to work self-directed and to motivate and lead a team of international agents/organizers Computer literate in all aspects of MS Office, strong Salesforce or other CRM databases. Ability to create PPT presentations and strong use of Excel required for accurate forecasting important to this role. A2Z and Datamart experience a plus! Ability to travel internationally 5+ times per year and conduct regular local travel as required to meet with clients, attend industry events and stay abreast of market conditions Strong communication and collaboration skills across all disciplines and levels of the organization Strategic thinker, an account developer, and can negotiate, convince, and influence Experience working across multiple territories and sectors preferable Other language skills strongly preferable

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Target Compensation: $90,000-120,000 (Sales Incentive Eligible)
