S&P Dow Jones Indices (SPDJI) serves the financial services industry as a leader in providing indices used for investment products and portfolio benchmarking. Our indices underpin leading exchange-traded derivatives (ETDs), Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), structured products, OTC instruments, and play a crucial role in the investment landscape. The Team:
The US Equity Index Product Management team oversees a diverse set of index products, including iconic benchmarks such as the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average, in addition to Sector indices, Style indices, and Sustainability indices. As asset class experts, the Product Management team sets strategic priorities to drive revenue growth. This team is integral to the Core Equities product group at S&P DJI, providing client solutions, insights, thought leadership, and driving product strategy and financial health. The Role:
We are seeking a Director to support the US Equity Indices franchise in the US and globally. This role is client-facing and will involve representing the US Equity Index team at frequent client events. In addition, the role will involve product development, financial monitoring, and providing indexing solutions to clients. The Director will play a key role in ensuring the commercial success of US Equity indices. Key Responsibilities: Define and execute product development strategy, working closely with the Head of US Equity Indices. Support the sales team by actively participating in deal strategy, prospective and current client meetings, and executive presentations representing US Equity indices as a subject matter expert. Lead market analysis efforts, monitor competitive activity, identify strategic business opportunities and challenges, and support new product initiatives and strategic sales efforts. Develop a deep understanding of the underlying data and methodologies required to create and maintain our key US Equity indices. Drive thought leadership within US Equity Indices through analysis and content creation which explain the benefits and the value proposition of our indices. Represent S&P DJI at executive level industry events and conferences. Collaborate with the Research and Design team on index design. Plan and coordinate competing priorities and resources required to deliver on team objectives and key results using an AGILE framework. Provide insights which inform the product roadmap based on market intelligence and client feedback. Collaborate across Product Management team members and wider internal stakeholders to support both product and global initiatives. Identify growth opportunities and develop a robust pipeline of growth for existing indices and index launches. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior members of the US Equity Index Product Management team. Qualifications: Undergraduate degree required, master’s degree in a relevant field or progress towards a CFA Charterholder status a plus. Over 10 years of relevant work experience, ideally within Index or Asset Management. Understanding of the investment process, investment management industry, portfolio theory, and financial markets is required. Strong client-facing experience with the ability to adapt presentation style in accordance with a diverse range of customers from across the financial spectrum. Familiarity with sector and style investment strategies as well as sustainable financial topics and industry best practices. Self-driven with strong research and innovation skills. Strong analytical and quantitative skills are essential, comfortable working with large datasets. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to adapt communication style to different situations. The position requires interacting with sophisticated clients and the candidate should demonstrate ability to ask questions and advise toward client solutions. Programming skills (Python, R, SQL, VBA, others) are desirable. Knowledge of financial packages such as FactSet, Capital IQ, Morningstar, Eikon, etc. is desirable. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated ability to handle steep learning curves; candidate should be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty. Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $175,000 to $200,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus.
