Relocation is available.
Refrigeration Manager responsibilities include but are not limited:
- Manage the operation & maintenance of a large scale ammonia refrigeration system, boiler/steam generation system and plant utilities network
- Manage a supervisory and hourly staff of 18 team member and be responsible for a repair and maintenance budget
- Lead and manage significant capital reinvestment in refrigeration and boiler systems taking place at the Liberal Kansas facility
- Overseeing that all employees are provided a safe work environment and that safety is a priority in the department
- Maintain turnover within the department, which requires good communication and employee-relation skills. Lastly, this position will be required to provide proper training, documentation, support and follow-up communication with end users
- Other duties as assigned
This is a safety sensitive position. This is an on-site position.
Qualified candidates for the Refrigeration Manager should possess the following:
- 5-10 years working with ammonia refrigeration systems
- 5-10 years working with boilers and related equipment
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) & Risk Management Planning (RMP) programs and compliance
- Experience managing supervisory and hourly staff
- Ability to teach, train and develop departmental staff
- Experience with maintenance planning & scheduling systems
- Ability to troubleshoot the mechanical and electrical aspects of refrigeration and boiler systems
- Ability to lead team of plant technicians and contractors to achieve timely installation of new projects
- Excellent communication skills. Communication between engineering, operations and information technology to implement the best solution to achieve desired application results
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Ability to work well with others
- Must be willing to be on call 24/7
Additional skills preferred but not required:
- Experience in the Meat packing industry
- Formal ammonia refrigeration training and certifications
- Experience with Reverse Osmosis water treatment systems
- Familiar with Boiler and Cooling Tower chemical treatment programs
- HAZWoper training and field experience
- Familiar with IIAR bulletins and publications regarding ammonia refrigeration systems
- Experience working with Corporate/Plant personnel in the design, development and implementation of new refrigeration and boiler projects
- Ability to and experience in developing scopes of work
- Ability to and experience in developing project budgets
- Ability to and experience in developing project schedules
- Ability to identify energy usage and efficiency within the refrigeration and boiler areas
- Ability to and experience in the development of capital funding requests
