The Position The Director, Clinical Informatics in the Clinical Data Science & Evidence (CDSE) department develops clinical and medical informatics software and system development with customers in collaboration with the research partnerships function of the real-world evidence department. The role supports external scientific engagements and develops and executes strategies to identify and fulfil complex information needs company-wide using advanced clinical informatics tools and techniques. This role requires a deep understanding of both clinical workflows and information technology. Relationships This position reports to the ED/SD of Clinical Informatics and functions as a clinical informatics specialist in the Clinical Informatics team and collaborates closely with other CDSE functions, CMR functions, broader NNI and Global functions to ensure local market needs are met. This individual contributor will be expected to oversee projects with external vendors. Essential Functions Works closely with stakeholders to identify clinical informatics opportunities, determine appropriate datasets and algorithms, identify patterns and formulate solutions, experiment and deliver clinical informatics tools Drives the development and delivery of innovative clinical informatics solutions and services response to business requirements and priorities for CMR Explores and introduces new data driven approaches to generating clinical informatics solutions to address business issues Works with other clinical informatics specialists, IT and data engineers to acquire and transform datasets that deliver critical business insights Defines and creates metrics that can be leveraged by CMR analysts to deliver insights to their stakeholders Oversees consultants and/or contractors as needed to deliver clinical and medical informatics software and systems tailored to meet the needs of customers and align with research objectives Serving as an internal expert on clinical informatics tools development in support of organization-wide project and programs. Maintains knowledge of “best practices” in informatics and associated contingencies to include healthcare and clinical data analytics, real-world data sources, data science techniques, and related topics Physical Requirements 0-10% overnight travel required. May on occasion be required to work &/or travel on weekends &/or company holidays. Qualifications A PhD and/or Master’s degree from an accredited institution is required in informatics-related field 12 years of relevant analytics experience required, which includes 8 years of relevant informatics experience (pharma industry experience preferred) Strong analytical, negotiation, cross-functional team and leadership skills required Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of technologies, including planning, prioritization, support, and maintenance Experience delivering healthcare-based insights and related models, particularly applying informatics techniques Demonstrated experience providing direct user support and leading training initiatives Proven ability to easily grasp and master new software and hardware technologies Excellent communications skills (verbal, written, presentation) in English and customer service focus Foundational skills in designing and implementing innovation/improvement initiatives, including the required change management Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills Advanced skills in text mining, data mining, information visualization concepts and informatics tools preferred with application to healthcare / clinical data and settings Proficient in working with clinical informatics tools (EHRs, CDSS, HIE, etc.) and data science tools (Python, R, Knime, Tableau, Qlik, NLP tools, etc.) Solid understanding of advanced statistics Subject matter understanding of the use of healthcare / clinical data for decision making We commit to an inclusive recruitment process and equality of opportunity for all our job applicants.
