Job Description: - Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.- Coordinates and delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.- Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and others.- Utilizes patient education materials relevant to the patient population and assesses readiness to learn.- Identifies expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance as needed in revising the plan of care.- Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.- Demonstrates competence in the care of patients with complex problems, including consideration of physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.- Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs.- Consults with appropriate resources in a timely manner regarding patients with complex care issues.- Participates in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.- Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care and synthesizes assessment data meaningfully.- Develops relationships with families that enable them to advocate for themselves and the patient.- Collaborates with patient and family to prepare or update the care plan.- Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care.- Reads relevant journals and brings ideas and questions to the staff for assessment of applicability.
