As the Demand Planning Manager (Amazon), you will own and lead the demand planning process for a specific channel and category to create an accurate 24-month operational forecast throughout the life cycle. You will lead cross-functional collaboration across Product, Marketing, Sales, and Finance to reach a consensus on operating and long-term strategic demand plans, considering all relevant statistical forecast techniques, business insights, assumptions, and signals. You will play a key role in supporting the Director of Demand Planning, in facilitating Zinus Inc. Sales & Operations Planning Demand Review, and leading the continuous improvement roadmap for your team regarding all aspects of process, system, and people standards and capabilities. Amazon experience is required. Managerial experience is required.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop direct reports in goal setting, performance, redundancy, culture, etc., in support of job satisfaction, retention, and career development.
- Lead the Demand Planning process for channel and category, with the outcome of creating the most accurate 24-month operational forecast throughout the life cycle for every product.
- Ensure business parameter inputs from Product, Sales, and Marketing (including intro date, pricing, end-of-life date, stock in trade, sell-through, competitive landscape, macro-economics, etc.) are properly defined, aligned and managed to support future statistical modeling.
- Ensure proper collaboration with product, sales, marketing, supply planning, and finance teams to build a consensus demand plan.
- Lead team in reviewing, analyzing, and validating the quantification of new product introductions utilizing historical data for both internal and competitive launches, planned marketing support and critical account sales plans, and validating risks and opportunities before and after introduction.
- Support the Demand Planning director in facilitating the S&OP/Pre-Demand Review and Demand Review by providing:
- Identify and reconcile gaps between the demand plan and the financial budget, driving for appropriate actions from the Supply Chain, Business, or FP&A communities.
- Prepare demand planning outputs for budget, trend, operational, and strategic S&OP for the Supply Planning, Supply Chain, Business, and financial communities.
- Review forecast accuracy analysis (FA% and Bias%), including root cause and performance problem solving, to promptly resolve or make recommendations for any issues. Encourage work by exception using Demand Planning Metrics (ABC * XYZ forecast accuracy)
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional company projects.
Requirements:
- Managerial Experience required
- Well-versed in Amazon's systems
- Bachelor s degree preferably (or equivalent years' work experience), preferably Supply Chain, Retail sales and inventory management, Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative business discipline
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience preferably within an e-commerce consumer goods industry; minimum of 3-5 years forecasting experience.
- Understands the importance of relationship development/management.
- Ability to deal with complex and ambiguous situations
- Demonstrated management and self-initiative skills required
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a high attention to detail.
- Highly proficient with MS Office required, advanced MS Excel required, experience with a forecast modeling tool preferred, e. g. SAP IBP; SAP experience helpful
- Strong business acumen; comprehensive understanding of retail math
- Possess soft skills and ability to recruit, develop and challenge direct reports
