Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Revenue Financial Data Analyst III with our Finance department. This is a remote, work from home opportunity and you may be based outside of the greater Chicagoland area. 

The Revenue Financial Data Analyst III provides net revenue and receivable analysis to Finance leadership. Under general direction, is accountable for developing and leverage the use of business intelligence platforms across organization/system-wide reporting.  Collaborates with teams across the organization and is a steward of visually appealing report development and maintenance best practices within revenue and reimbursement.  Will work closely with the Reimbursement managers in monthly/annual net revenue calculations, net revenue reporting, assist in the annual preparation of various payor scorecards, dashboards, key performance indicators, and other net revenue needs.   The analyst may provide support for preparation of annual cost reports, community benefit and tax reporting requirements including various annual surveys.  They will leverage a a business intelligence system like Tableau and other systems such as Esimon (decision support) and revenue cycle analytic software tools (account receivable valuation) for creating concise and accurate dashboards, reports, trending information and other scorecards. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Utilize business intelligence tools to develop and maintain analysis of net revenue and AR performance through the use of our enterprise warehouse, decision support system, Revenue Cycle Analytics (RCA),Tableau and other programs for development of visually appealing dashboards, scorecards, reports and other outputs.
  • Provide analysis and support in the use of net revenue from third parties, such as Medicare Medicaid and Blue Cross (PSR, SPCL, and experience reports). Build on basic understanding of nuances to reimbursements and regulations for various payers including governmental agencies.
  • Assist with implementation and upgrades of Revenue Cycle Analytics and other RCA type reporting needs.
  • Assist with the analysis of net patient service revenue and receivables for budgeting/forecasting purposes, modeling impacts from changes in reimbursement and regulations.
  • Maintain an appropriate portfolio of work.
  • Update reports and queries to match the most appropriate specifications and versions of technology available.
  • Owner in the process development for reviewing old, current, and new reports shared at the system level.
  • Develop and own the rules necessary in order to diagnose the health and stability of system-wide reports and measures, complementary to enterprise-level rulesets and activities.
  • Assist with net patient service revenue reporting for purposes of annual audit, community benefit, cost reporting, and quarterly/annual survey requirements as outlined by regulations and prescriptive instructions from various agencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, business decision support/statistical analysis or other mathematic based degrees with strong statistical analysis background.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in progressively responsible analytical position or approximately 2 years public accounting experience.
  • Experience with Crowe LLP RCA tool is preferred.
  • Experience with Esimon, a hospital cost accounting and decision support system is preferred.
  • Advanced Tableau Skills.
  • Advanced skill in most current BI tools and experience in BI project development.
  • Requires technical creativity and strong understanding of information technology in health care.
  • Advanced computer skills required including knowledge and proficiency with spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Excellent analytical skills with logical, clear thinking, and independence is crucial.
  • Must be able to articulate issues in a precise, substantive manner.
  • EPIC Clarity certification a plus.
  • Certified Public Accountant a plus.
