Job Summary: 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Analyst to join our restaurant group’s Finance & Operations team. The Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), preparing weekly reports, and assisting with forecasting and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the restaurant industry, excellent Excel skills, and a data-driven mindset. This position provides a unique opportunity to influence strategic decisions and optimize operational efficiency across our restaurant locations. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • KPI Tracking and Analysis: Develop, track, and analyze key performance indicators across various departments, including sales, labor, food costs, and customer metrics. Identify trends and provide actionable insights to improve operational performance. 

  • Weekly Reporting: Prepare and distribute weekly reports for management, highlighting key metrics and financial performance across the restaurant group. Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and timeliness in reporting. 

  • Forecasting and Budgeting: Assist with monthly and quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes. Utilize historical data and industry trends to provide accurate projections that guide decision-making. 

  • Sales and Profitability Analysis: Analyze sales performance, guest trends, and profitability by location. Provide recommendations for optimizing revenue and controlling costs. 

  • Labor and Scheduling Analysis: Track labor costs and analyze scheduling efficiency across locations. Partner with management to align staffing with demand, controlling labor costs while ensuring a high standard of service. 

  • Menu and Product Analysis: Collaborate with the culinary and operations teams to assess menu item profitability, pricing strategies, and seasonal adjustments. Conduct analysis on product mix to drive menu optimization. 

  • Ad-Hoc Analysis and Projects: Support various ad-hoc projects and provide analytical insights for strategic initiatives, marketing campaigns, and operational improvements. 

  • Data Management: Ensure data integrity and maintain organized systems for tracking and reporting metrics. Partner with IT and operations teams to enhance data collection and improve reporting efficiency. 

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): 

  • Sales Metrics: Sales per location, sales growth rate, average transaction size, average ticket size 

  • Cost Metrics: Food and beverage costs, labor costs, overhead expenses, cost of goods sold (COGS) percentage 

  • Profitability Metrics: Gross profit margin, net profit margin, EBITDA per location 

  • Customer Metrics: Customer count, average guest spend, customer satisfaction score, repeat customer rate 

  • Operational Efficiency: Labor efficiency ratio, overtime as a percentage of labor hours, staff turnover rate, table turnover rate 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field. 

  • Experience: 

  • 2+ years of experience in an analytical role, ideally within the restaurant, hospitality, or retail industries. 

  • Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and KPI tracking is essential. 

  • Technical Skills: 

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including experience with pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, and data analysis tools. 

  • Experience with financial and reporting software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar) is a plus. 

  • Soft Skills: 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • High attention to detail with a passion for accuracy. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Familiarity with the restaurant industry and key drivers of performance. 

  • Experience working with POS systems and extracting data for analysis. 

  • Proactive in identifying trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
