Job Description:
Experience required:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- Expertise in computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, and FOIA Xpress
- Experience and capacity to operate Federal web based systems
- Knowledge of, and experience with, the FOIA Exemptions and processes.
Responsibilities:
- FOIA Request Processing and Consultation
- Process responsive records using electronic tools.
- Understand how to use the electronic tools, including marking and applying redactions.
- Understand how to identify material for protection under the FOIA's exemptions and can easily contact supervisors with questions.
- Segregate non-exempt information for release.
- Clearly mark redactions on partial releases with the applicable exemptions on the document in accordance with the Department of Justice, Office of Information Policy's Guidance
- Assessment of Requests
- Records responsive to FOIA requests are typically complex and contain sensitive information, and the contractor will handle sensitive information accordingly.
- Completion of FOIA Requests
- Shall ensure that the final response adheres to the established guidelines of the FOIA process. The guidelines consist of the FOIA, the FRMA, and implementing
- Departmental regulations and issuances; and organizational and Departmental policy statements that consist of complicated information management statutes that permits an individual to gain access to records and its implementing Departmental regulation; organizational and Departmental policy statements that are general in nature and of limited use in specific projects and situations.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Mid-Level Analyst will assist in processing all incoming FOIA requests and ensure that all requests comply with the statutory provisions of the FOIA.
- The Mid-Level analyst will also: Assist in identification of possible exempt items for further review.
- Assist in entering request data in tracking system
- Prepare draft acknowledgement letters
- Redact records determined to be responsive to requests
- Respond to simple requests
- Contact personnel for responsive records in addition to the work knowledge base of the Junior-Level Analyst.
