Job Description
- Diagnose issues: Identify mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic tools.
- Repair and maintenance: Perform repairs on engines, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Conduct routine and preventive maintenance, such as oil changes and tire checks.
- Safety checks: Ensure forklifts meet safety standards by testing and calibrating equipment.
- Documentation: Keep detailed records of all repairs, services, and inspections.
- Parts management: Order and manage inventory of necessary parts for repairs.
- Training: Train forklift operators on proper use and basic maintenance.
- Collaboration: Work with other mechanics and maintenance personnel to resolve complex issues.
- Experience: Proven experience as a forklift mechanic or in a similar role.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
- Attention to detail: Ability to perform precise and accurate repairs.
- Problem-solving: Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Physical stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training is a plus.
- Certification: Certifications like ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) or CFT (Certified Forklift Technician) are often preferred12.
- Industrial setting: Often involves working in warehouses, manufacturing plants, or distribution centers.
- Safety gear: Required to wear protective equipment and follow safety protocols.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
