Job DescriptionAs an Armed Security Officer you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare, Education, Government and more.
Starting Base Pay: $18.41 / Hr
Responsibilities:
· Provides basic access control, security surveillance, traffic direction and control, loss prevention, and other essential security functions to protect critical energy and utility infrastructure and facilities.
· Secures property and personnel by patrolling (on foot and/or in vehicle as required), monitoring surveillance equipment and access control points.
· Conducts inquiries and limited investigations and reports security breaches, security incidents, as well as responds to incidents of fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials, or inclement weather.
· Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities through electronic logs and incident reporting security systems.
· Observe and remain vigilant and alert at all times for signs of crime, disorder, hazards, and unusual activities.
· Conduct patrols on foot or via a motor vehicle to check for unsafe conditions, blocked entryways, security violations, mechanical problems, and unauthorized individuals.
· Ability to de-escalate situations by applying good verbal and professional communication skills to prevent situations from becoming physical threats.
· Conduct periodic inspections on all security devices and fire control equipment as required.
· Screen employees, contractors, and visitors through electronic visitor management, X-ray screening equipment, and other security technology systems to ensure authorized access and entry into critical facilities.
· Secure and preserve suspected crime scenes to protect the integrity of evidence as well as provide first aid or life-saving measures to injured or ill-persons.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills Required:
· Previous security, military, law enforcement, or corrections experience. Experience related to customer service, troubleshooting, and/or managing stressful situations is preferred.
· Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed positions; 21+ years of age for armed positions.
· Possess a high school diploma or GED. Official transcripts may be acceptable in place of diplomas or certificates.
· As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner that is consistent with applicable laws.
Additional background investigations are conducted by Dominion Energy (Pinnacle) in order to determine suitability as an authorized contractor.
· As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
· Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations (SC Law Enforcement Division) and may be required prior to employment.
· A valid driver's license and clean driving history will be required for driving positions. Serious or recent moving infractions and previous license suspensions may result in disqualification from driving positions. Reliable transportation is required for all security positions.
· Must have verifiable firearms training and experience for armed positions. This includes documentation or certifications from professional entities such as the military, law enforcement agencies, NRA, or other state approved firearms training.
· Must be able to complete all required pre-employment and post-employment training within 30 days of employment, which includes: CPR training, handcuffing training, expandable baton training, and firearms training (firearms training only if applying for armed positions). Recertification training for licensing and contractual requirements is required on an annual basis to maintain employment. All above required training is paid at a training wage. Employee online self-study programs are also required to complete and employees will not be paid for that training if training is done outside of work duties.
· Must be able to stand for more than 8 hours.
· Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs or more in certain situations.
· Must be able to climb and navigate stairwells.
· Ability to wear a prescribed uniform and comply with company dress, grooming, and other policies and professional standards. Must be able to wear utility weighing up to 10 lbs that may include firearms, handcuffs, batons, and other required duty items.
· Basic computer skills required with a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe programs, camera surveillance programs, and other security technology software.
· Must possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
· Excellent sense of judgment and ability to work autonomously and independently with minimal supervision.
· Ability to work flexible hours during non-standard business hours such as evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. During emergency situations such as storm events or power outages, extended shift work may be required beyond normal standard working hours. In some cases, work may be required outside in the elements, during inclement weather, or in remote austere location or environments.
