A Phlebotomist is responsible for using their medical knowledge to take blood samples from patients. Their duties include: Proper identification of the patient, Preparing the collection site, obtaining proper tools and supplies used in the collection process, and proper labeling of the samples for analysis in medical laboratories.

Phlebotomist - Full Time, Days - Eligible for participation in comprehensive benefits including 401K

Education:

* Graduate of an accredited High School or GED program

* Preferred: Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy or medical assistant training program.

Licensure & Certifications:

* Certified BLS within 12 months of employment.

About the Job:

The phlebotomist will provide excellent customer service to our patients. Packages, labels, transports samples safely to the laboratory to ensure the timely and accuracy of the specimen integrity. Performs phlebotomy by venipuncture, capillary skin puncture, or arterial puncture with minimal discomfort to the patient in a timely manner.

The phlebotomist must have some knowledge of computer functions used within the department to help register, order, and collect the specimens in the proper collection tubes in the appropriate order of collections. They are also involved with the ordering and stocking of inventory supplies needed to perform their jobs. Knowledge of the use of laboratory equipment to help prepare the specimens for testing. Phlebotomist must have good communication, multitasking, and organizational skills. They must be able to relate and adapt to all age specific needs of our patients.

General Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with the fellow Phlebotomist, Technologist, Supervisors, Managers, and Administrative Director to help direct the modality's workflow.

* Knowledge of multiple computer systems to be able perform the expected functions in accordance with the department policies. Registered samples, orders tests, and collect samples

* Performs phlebotomy by venipuncture, capillary skin puncture, or arterial puncture with minimal discomfort to the patient in a timely manner.

* Packages, labels, transports, and receives specimens into the laboratory.

* Helps monitor the workflow of their fellow phlebotomist.

* Helps train and perform competency testing.

* Completes all mandatory education and department specific competencies in a timely manner.
