Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of our financial and manufacturing operations, with a strong emphasis on cost accounting. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in accounting principles, particularly in a manufacturing setting, and will have experience in analyzing and controlling costs to drive operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Conduct cost analysis to determine product costing, variances, and profitability.
  • Collaborate with operations and management teams to develop and monitor budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, including the preparation of journal entries and closing schedules.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Perform account and bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts to supporting documentation; investigate and resolve reconciling items timely, includes, analyze fixed asset expenditures and record related journal entries, reconcile monthly AR Aging, AP Aging to GL and reconcile inter-affiliate balances.
  • Calculate and manage rebates and commissions, ensuring compliance with company policies and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Mentor and train junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, budgeting, and variance analysis.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel; experience with manufacturing ERP systems is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Technology focused with track record of delivering efficiencies in financial operations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
