Job Description

The Accounting Manager is a key position within our Accounting department. The expectations for the role are to demonstrate strong and effective management over the monthly closing and financial reporting process specific to his or her responsibilities.

This individual will manage month end responsibilities including but not limited to, owning the recording and reconciliation of retail accounts, general and administrative expenses and corporate accruals. He/she will provide analysis for any variances to budget in monthly accounting review meetings. He/she will be the point of contact for various departments to provide details of accounting treatment.

The position will be involved in the implementation of retail point-of-sale system integration and make recommendations on process enhancement. The position will oversee the responsibilities of a staff accountant.

The candidate will be able to develop and maintain smooth, cooperative working relationships with all levels in the Company and cross-functional departments such as Financial Planning & Analysis, Retail and Accounts Payable. Qualified candidates will bring a strong knowledge of GAAP, proven leadership ability, excellent communication skills and strong record of process improvements. The candidate will be efficiently able to investigate any variances and propose solutions.

This individual will approach projects with a flexible, innovative, detail-oriented approach, and a strong emphasis on system-based (rather than people-based) solutions.

This position will report directly to the Senior Manager of Accounting at the Company’s corporate headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the month-end close process including the recording of retail inventory, club & corporate expenses, accruals, and reserves to the general ledger.
  • Support the transactions and fluctuations of the P&L accounts with robust variance analysis
  • Oversee the accounting for all Retail transactions including balance sheet account reconciliations, providing analytical commentary for trend and variance analysis, and ensuring new transactions and initiatives are accurately recorded
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financials are appropriately stated
  • Provide guidance and training to staff accountant
  • Prepare various schedules, memos, and supporting documentation for the external audit
  • Maintain accounting parameters in the D365 inventory management system for retail transactions and inventory to ensure postings are in accordance with GAAP
  • Able to work and partner effectively with other departments, such as Retail, Financial Planning & Analysis and Accounts Payable
  • Research and implement strategic based processes and accounting guidance to improve accounting and month-end close responsibilities
Qualifications
  • Bachelors in Accounting, MBA or Masters preferred
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in accounting and/or financial reporting, preferably with some experience in public accounting
  • CPA license or candidate actively pursuing CPA preferred
  • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and experience with internal controls
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus
  • Knowledge of OneStream is a plus
  • Self-motivated, proactive thinker with ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to work both independently with limited supervision as well as in a team environment.
  • Able to handle pressure and short deadlines with a positive attitude.
  • Exhibit willingness and ability to learn, adapt and improve the environment.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Proficient PC skills in the areas of integrated business system environments, and other basic office software, such as, spreadsheet, database, and word-processing
  • Career-minded and goal-oriented person who can see challenges as an opportunity for future advancements

Pay Transparency: Min $105K - Max $115K
