Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to work closely with various entities. The ideal candidate will manage month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, and support various tax submissions. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Complete month-end and year-end close processes and financial reporting, including reporting to headquarters.
- Partner with our team to complete tax submission packages for budget and actuals.
- Perform bank reconciliations, clear reconciling items, and assist with process changes to reduce reconciliation issues.
- Prepare analysis and reconciliation of accounts on a monthly basis, identify errors, and make necessary corrections.
- Analyze and record all adjusting entries for proper inventory valuation in accordance with GAAP.
- Record fixed assets, prepare month-end reports, and post month-end depreciation.
- Support processes related to managing retail store fixed and variable rent and landlord relationships.
- Analyze and reconcile GL accounts related to taxation.
- Partner with Accounts Payable and Sales Audit to manage their activities and ensure timely account reconciliations.
- Process journal entries and gather supporting documentation.
- Prepare all supporting schedules in assigned areas of financial reporting.
- Assist in the development and improvement of accounting processes and procedures.
- Assist in external and internal audits, including tax audits.
- Provide support in other finance functions as needed.
- B.S. in Accounting/Finance; CPA preferred but not required.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience.
- Working knowledge of SAP ERP.
- In-depth experience with complex bank and accounting reconciliations.
- Knowledge of Inventory and Fixed Asset Accounting.
- Understanding of GAAP, specifically in a retail environment.
- Advanced quantitative, analytical, and computer skills, especially in Excel.
- Detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Retail industry experience and/or multinational company experience are a plus.
