Accounting Clerk

Full Time 40hrs/week

$19-22/hour

Job Summary

We are looking for a seasoned and enthusiastic Accounting Clerk to join our team. You will have the opportunity to contribute in a number of areas that support our accounting functions primarily Accounts Payable.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable invoices and ensure accurate coding and entry into financial system – Sage Intacct.
  • Prepare and process weekly check runs, ensuring timely payments to vendors.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all accounts payable transactions.
  • Reconcile the accounts payable sub-ledger to the general ledger.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve any issues related to invoices or payments
  • Manage the issuing of 1099s.
  • Be able to manage large volumes of invoices.
  • Process payroll
  • Provide support regarding the review of timesheets for accuracy and work with Managers on corrections.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement of Accounting functions, including further automation of accounting systems.
  • Build a positive relationship and environment with all departments.


Required Skills and Abilities

  • Be committed to providing efficient, reliable support to accounting department members, other departments, and external parties.
  • You should be trustworthy, thorough, and courteous with excellent time management skills.
  • Problem-solver.
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge of bookkeeping software.
  • Ability to analyze data accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong math and research skills.

Education and Experience

  • This individual must have a 2- or 4-year business degree, or equivalent combination of work & training experience.
  • Preferred to have at least 5 years’ experience working in Accounts Payable & Payroll.
  • It would be ideal for this individual to have worked in SAGE & ADP but not required.
  • Be able to prioritize tasks and promote a sense of urgency when needed.
  • Advanced Excel & Word skills would be preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to complete tasks with 100% accuracy as errors can lead to significant impact on the financials of the organization as well as employee pay.
  • Must work well in a changing environment, always looking for ways to improve processes to ensure tasks are handled effectively and efficiently.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Be a team player by being willing to help others in the department as well as throughout the organization.
  • Great customer service skills, as this individual will be dealing with employees and vendors.

Physical Requirements

These work environment factors are general in nature. CONSTANT: Walk, stand and near vision. FREQUENT: Bend neck; talk/speak; and visual accommodation. OCCASIONAL: Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; rotate neck, static neck position; walk; hear within 5 feet and midrange vision.
