Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the Accounting and Grant Manager will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and providing financial analysis to support decision-making within the Rochester School District. This position will be responsible for the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to K-12 educational programs within the school district. Additionally, this individual will oversee the organization's grant-seeking efforts, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, managing grant applications, and fostering relationships with funders. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving educational outcomes through data collection and dissemination.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares, submits and maintains compliance in all grants for the Rochester School District.
- Prepares the MOE (Maintenance of Effort and Maintenance of Equity) and Excess Cost submissions.
- Compiles financial reports for the school district, City of Rochester, Department of Revenue, Department of Education, and the state of New Hampshire.
- Reconciles the district's Student Activity bank accounts.
- Assists the Finance Director in the preparation of the district's annual budget and forecast.
- Assists the Finance Director in audits.
- Works closely with Human Resources to ensure position control activity aligns with the budget.
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as directed.
- Federal, state, and local laws and regulations applicable to school/governmental accounting and budgeting.
- Accounting theory and generally accepted accounting/budget principles and practices.
- Financial analysis and research procedures.
- Principles and practices of complex financial record keeping and reporting.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate accounting and budget variances.
- Current budgeting and accounting software and tools.
- Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment.
- Ability to interpret and apply governmental law and regulations relating to fiscal functions.
- Examine and verify routine financial and budget documents and reports.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbal and in writing.
- Provide technical assistance to lower level accounting staff and other school district employees.
- Demonstrate flexibility and respond to changing requirements and job assignments.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and working relationships with all the contacts at work.
- Work effectively and independently.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with major course work in accounting, finance or a closely related field.
- Three years of increasingly responsible technical experience in accounting or related fields, preferably in a school district.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
- Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
- Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to RSD's mission
- Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
- Master's degree in finance or accounting.
