Job Description
Our client, a leading flooring company, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join their finance team. This role will support the accounting department by performing a variety of accounting and clerical tasks, including invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, and maintaining financial records. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting or bookkeeping, a strong understanding of financial principles, and excellent organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments are made.
- Review and verify customer payments, ensuring accuracy and proper posting to accounts.
- Assist with the reconciliation of accounts payable and receivable.
- Data Entry & Recordkeeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accounting software.
- Enter financial transactions into the company’s general ledger.
- Assist with bank reconciliations and ensure all financial data is properly recorded.
- Invoicing & Billing:
- Prepare and issue invoices to clients for products or services provided.
- Monitor outstanding invoices and assist with follow-up on overdue payments.
- Work with sales teams to resolve any discrepancies in billing or payments.
- Reporting & Administrative Support:
- Assist in preparing financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
- Provide general administrative support to the accounting department, including filing, organizing receipts, and handling correspondence.
- Assist with audits and other special financial projects as needed.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in the construction, flooring, or manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office software.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
