As we continue to expand our operations across multiple sectors, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Oil & Gas Accountant with Real Estate Experience to join our growing finance team.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work across both the oil & gas and real estate sectors, providing a unique blend of accounting expertise that will support both our energy and property investments.

Position Overview:

The Oil & Gas Accountant with Real Estate Experience will be responsible for managing financial operations, reporting, and accounting functions related to both our oil & gas exploration and production activities, as well as real estate investments. This hybrid role requires a strong background in oil & gas accounting practices, alongside a comprehensive understanding of real estate accounting, property management, and financial reporting.

This individual will work closely with the finance and operations teams to ensure compliance, accurate financial reporting, and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Oil & Gas Accounting:

  • Revenue Recognition: Oversee revenue recognition for oil & gas activities, including joint ventures, production-sharing agreements, and royalty payments.
  • Cost Management: Track and analyze operating expenses, capital expenditures, and cost recovery related to oil & gas operations.
  • Joint Venture Accounting: Handle accounting for joint venture partnerships, ensuring proper billing and accounting for expenses.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
  • Monthly and Quarterly Close: Manage the month-end and quarter-end financial close process for oil & gas operations, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.

Real Estate Accounting:

  • Property Accounting: Manage financial records for real estate assets, including lease agreements, property management, acquisitions, and sales.
  • Real Estate Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses for real estate investments and properties
  • Investment Analysis: Provide financial analysis of potential real estate acquisitions, including cash flow projections, ROI, and risk assessments.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts for real estate holdings and development projects.

Cross-Sector Support:

  • Financial Reporting: Consolidate financial information from both the oil & gas and real estate sectors to provide comprehensive reporting to senior management.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow for both oil & gas and real estate investments to ensure liquidity and appropriate fund allocation.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and systems, increasing efficiency across both sectors.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with operations, tax, legal, and executive teams to provide financial insight and support business strategy.
