Job Title: Director, Operations Accounting

Department: Finance

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Overview:

This role is the lead for the Global Operations Accounting function and is the key role managing all aspects of accounting and controls. This includes supporting the global manufacturing, inventory, and distribution accounting teams. The leader will be responsible for providing oversight and leadership to ensure compliance with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley.

Insulet has a complex global inventory and supply chain structure with inventory in ~20 locations including wholly owned locations, contract manufacturers and supplier warehousing arrangements. As the Company expands its global footprint, complexity will continue to increase. Inventory is held in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific region. This position reports to VP Finance Operations and will partner closely with the Chief Accounting Officer and VP Internal Audit. The role can be performed remotely or in Insulet's Acton Massachusetts office.

Responsibilities:

•Lead a team of 6+ performing operations accounting.

•Ensure timely accounting close activities with a high degree of accuracy.

•Support commercial expansion in international markets through evaluation of inventory terms and conditions and final determination of accounting and reporting treatment

•Ensure well-documented execution of internal controls across 20+ locations to comply with US GAAP and local statutory needs

•Support new factory build and localization of suppliers, including evaluation of new supplier agreements to determine appropriate accounting treatment. To include participation in supplier negotiations as needed.

•Support shifting business strategy around sterilization location and product ownership including analyzing and determining inventory accounting and controls ramifications

•Work closely with VP Finance Operations to understand operational changes and required changes or updates to internal control structure.

•Prepare materials for Board of Director reporting on status on inventory controls, including remediation plans, if appropriate

•Create an environment focused on continuous improvement and driven continuous improvement around the accounting close and related controls.

•Expand the use of technology (RPA, AI etc.) c to improve processes; maximize utilization of capabilities within our newly installed ERP.

•Ensure the company's cycle count and physical inventory processes are well controlled and documented.

•Responsible for managing FIFO accounting and standard costing process

•Support Global audit as well as statutory audits in ~10 countries including providing data and serving as primary liaison to audit firms for all inventory matters

•Provide forward looking analysis to monitor, assess and mitigate the need for inventory reserves.

•Assist the FP&A team with the assessment of capital investment ($100-$200M per year) in manufacturing capacity expansion.

•Provide technical accounting guidance to the operations team.

•Assist in financial reporting and investor communication as needed.

•Teamwork and Training: The person in this role should work well with the various team members in the department and the broader Insulet community.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

•Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; Certified Public Accountant

•15+ years' experience in global finance organizations

•Experience with global manufacturing entities, cost accounting and inventory

•Comfortable developing and implementing controls over complex inventory and supplier arrangements.

•Demonstrated expertise in accounting and internal controls.

•Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven ability to present complex financial topics tailored to audiences of varying seniority, including CFO, CEO and Board of Directors) and functions to create understanding.

•It has the highest standards of integrity reflected in all external and internal communications.

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

•Experience with SAP

•Able to effectively manage projects; results oriented and able to roll-up the sleeves to accomplish necessary tasks.

•Ideally experience in both world-class companies driving standard processes and systems, and in less mature companies in a state of transformation.

•Able to work in a fast paced, high growth environment.

•Self-motivated and high energy.

Physical Requirements:

•Global operations may require off-hours work due to time zone differences.

•Domestic and international travel may be required.

Additional Information:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $144,100.00 - $216,550.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
