Job Description
1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 4 years in patient accounting/business office environment, specifically billing and/or collections in the assigned insurance area. Previous UNITY HEALTH experience in the Patient Accounting department is preferred.
2. Training and Experience: Experience with computers, adding machine and normal office equipment (telephone, fax, copier, voice mail, etc.)
3. Job Knowledge: Able to communicate clearly and professionally and have excellent interpersonal, verbal communication skills.

DESCRIPTION:
The Patient Account Representative position is the entry level of the Patient Financial Services (PFS) Patient Accounting career path.
Responsible for accurate, timely and compliant billing analysis and collection facilitation of all assigned accounts. Ensures proper submission and adjudication of all claims submitted to third party carriers/intermediaries and timely response to all inquiries according to UNITY HEALTH policy and procedures.
The Patient Account Representative performs either billing analysis or insurance collection facilitation functions. A Patient Account Representative works in certain functional areas of Patient Accounting billing or collections which may include but are not limited to the following core functions:
• Government Payer Billing Analysis
• Commercial Payer Billing Analysis
• Worker’s Compensation Billing Analysis
• Automobile Payer Billing Analysis • Government Payer Collections Facilitation
• Commercial Payer Collections Facilitation
• Worker’s Compensation Collections Facilitation
• Automobile Payer Collections Facilitation
Physical Effort: Sitting 3-4 hours; standing 3-4 hours; walking 3-4 hours. Moderate lifting of 20-25 pounds, 1-10 times per day. Moderate bending, squatting and kneeling. Frequent fine motor movement with both hands. Manual dexterity to utilize computer. Good visual and hearing discrimination. Moderate lack of control over pace of work and high level of interaction with patients and employees throughout the work day.
