Bookkeeper Accounting Assistant Job at Bashore Green Law Group in Pontiac

We are a personal injury law firm looking for a assistant bookkeeper/accounting assistant with opportunity to move into head bookkeeper as experience is gained. The position is a long-term opportunity that begins as part time but will move to full time.

Key responsibilities

• Completing bank and general ledger reconciliations
• Understanding of payroll process and associated tax matters
• Completing monthly, quarterly, and year end close, on time and in an accurate manner
• Adhering to federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing reports, and detailing needed actions to management
• Executing accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, such as collections
• Carefully filing documents to preserve historical records
• Producing the trial balance and financial statements, including, but not limited to, daily balance sheet and statements of income and of cash flows
• Flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures and job assignments
• Experienced in accrual and cash basis of accounting
• 1+ years of relevant experience in bookkeeping
• General familiarity with Microsoft Excel
• Check Deposit experience preferred
• Enter Invoices experience highly desired
• Adeptness in journal entries
• Proficiency in Collecting Payments
• Comprehensive knowledge of bookkeeping
• Can work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to multitask and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are a must
• Proficient at analyzing financial data and promptly creating accurate reports
• High school diploma or comparable diploma with a higher in Accounting or Business preferred
