Are you ready to lead in a dynamic community-focused environment? Waterbury Ambulance Service, Inc. (WASI), Vermont’s 2021 EMS Service of the Year awardee seeks an inspiring and collaborative leader to succeed our interim Executive Director. The incumbent will transition back to a direct service and fundraising role to complete the station project after her successor is in place. We welcome applications from both experienced organizational leaders and EMS professionals seeking their first Executive Director role.
At WASI, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality EMS care, Backcountry Rescue, and engaging Community CPR Training. We have a proven track record of successful community-integrated mobile health, including our vital COVID-19 response.
As Executive Director, you’ll be the guiding force for our diverse team of dedicated volunteers and paid staff, all united by a shared vision of excellence in emergency medical services. Your passion will inspire and support us as we continue to innovate and grow in our brand-new home!
What You’ll Do:
- Respond to calls at the ALS Provider level, showcasing your expertise in action.
- Manage operations and finances to ensure we run smoothly and effectively.
- Dive into grant writing and fundraising to help us expand our impact.
- Oversee HR and strategic planning, shaping the future of our service.
- Be the public face of WASI, representing our mission and values in the community.
Qualifications Include:
WASI’s board welcomes applications from both experienced and new Executive Directors.
- Current NREMT Certified Paramedic OR AEMT, AND Current State of Vermont licensed Paramedic OR AEMT.
- Three years of leadership or mid-level management experience in an EMS operation
- Non-profit management experience or equivalent, including grant writing and administration.
- Strong leadership, financial oversight, budgeting, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office, QuickBooks or related.
- Current certifications (or able to obtain within 6 months): High performance CPR, AHA BLS Instructor, Stop the Bleed, ACLS, and PEPP certifications.
About Us: Waterbury Ambulance Service Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing exceptional 911 emergency medical response to Waterbury, Duxbury, parts of Moretown, and surrounding communities through mutual aid. Supported by over 30 volunteers, two full-time paid staff, and several per-diem employees, we respond to an average of 800 emergency calls per year. We also offer community training programs, operate COVID-19 testing and vaccination clinics, and provide Search & Rescue services for remote and mountainous areas.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The total compensation package includes:
- Starting annual pay: The board is open to either hourly base pay + overtime OR a salaried arrangement. Total annual compensation would be in the range of $75-90k, commensurate with the individual’s qualifications.
- Benefits:
- Paid time off – 9 holidays and approximately 100 hours/year of both vacation and sick/personal time.
- Insurance – WASI pays the equivalent of single coverage on health, vision, and dental insurance plans. For health, WASI covers the cost of single coverage on the BCBS Silver plan.
- SIMPLE IRA Retirement Plan – WASI matches employee contributions equal to a max of 3% annual pay.
